Boshoco and Al-Akabani first met in 2020 and quickly formed a strong bond due a common view of art and music despite the big differences in musical backgrounds. Al-Akabani is deeply passionate about Arabic music and the versatility of the Oud as an instrument, far from today's self-fetishisation, and it was this authentic and natural approach that drew Boshoco to this collaboration.

This is a hybrid set jammed live in 2020 on a mountain in Lebanon. That day both artists were in sync, don't you think? 

As we enter the New Year, we hope it will be a time of beauty and authenticity.

Philippe Zarif, aka Boshoco, is currently one of the pioneering DJs and producers in the Syrian electronic dance music scene. Born and raised in Aleppo, Boshoco drew inspiration from the rich cultural heritage of his hometown to craft a distinctive playful sound. Imbued with sweltering rhythms and infectious grooves, Boshoco’s sets skillfully blend left-field electronics with contemporary Arab music.

For our Select 255, the Syrian producer created an exclusive 45-minute set for us in solidarity with Palestinians in Gaza. He recorded the set at his house, and played it on the first recording gear he owned at the early start of his career. The set features a slew of eclectic tracks by various prominent Arab producers such as Shabjdeed, Hello Psychaleppo and Postdrone.

Hot oasis represents the sound of nature with a strong influence of South Sinai peaceful spirit. His melodic tunes reflect the sound of the oasis and the mystery of the mountains to take the ears to a psychedelic journey.

His style lies somewhere between melodic techno and ethnic downtempo and has been showcased on imprints such as Stil Vor Talent, Click Records, Art Vibes Music, Buddha Bar, Lump Records, Sol Selectas, Pipe & Pochet, Souq Records, Sweet Musique and more. 

His latest release named “Ophera” is out on the latest VA of A Tribe Called Kotori, the spiritual Stil vor Talent spin-off franchise by Oliver Koletzki.
