California’s LIGHTLEAK has been steadily laying a foundation via his slick blend of Minimal and Deep Tech sonics. After catching the attention of tastemakers like Prunk, Sidney Charles, and Rossi., he made the bold move across the globe to immerse himself in the European electronic scene. Studying the craft and hitting the ground running, LIGHTLEAK clocked over 100 gigs in his debut year alone, bringing his infectious energy to dancefloors across the Dutch capital and beyond. Now, back on home turf, he steps up for his first release on Hottrax with the punchy ‘Shelter’ EP—a three-track package of stripped-back grooves and undeniable dancefloor heat already receiving support from the likes of Carlita and more. 

“Man, I can’t really explain how good it feels to release an EP on one of my dream labels. Jamie Jones has been a staple in the game and has pushed the sound I love to places I’m really proud to see. ‘Shelter (Funky Heroes)’ brings high-energy house heat from the jump, layering classic bounce with tight, contemporary energy and vibrant, soulful vocals. ‘Memphis’ steps in next with a rolling, groove-heavy rhythm, peppered with snappy drums and hooky vocal loops, before ‘Hamburg’ delves deep with booming kicks and glossy synth work, signing off the EP with a final statement of intent.

Over the years, Louden’s productions have earned support from Marco Carola, Archie Hamilton, East End Dubs, and many more, while his releases on labels such as Eastenderz, Heavy House Society, and Microhertz have consistently kept his name in the mix. With every new signing, Jones’ label seeks artists whose music commands attention on the dancefloor, and ‘Gangsta Chucks’ does exactly that, delivering an all-action selection of tracks crafted for the floor. 

“I've been following the main man Jamie Jones for years, ever since my first parties as a raver and when I started out in the industry, and it's such an achievement to sign this EP with him today. I've been playing all the tracks in every set since I made them, and they’ve been working really well on the dancefloor every time. It’s a big pleasure to release them on Hottrax.” - Louden. 
Title track ‘Gangsta Chucks’ is a high-energy track driven by hard-hitting percussion and a no-nonsense bassline, built to ignite the dancefloor. ‘Busy Boy’ balances rhythmic momentum with soaring synths and infectious hooks, while ‘Sound Of Space’ closes the EP with a more atmospheric touch, layering intricate percussive elements with cosmic melodies that swirl within the mix.

While his name might suggest a stage persona, Boss Priester is in fact his real name, a fitting reflection of his authentic and uncompromising approach to music. Preferring to operate behind the scenes, Boss allows his music to speak volumes. Over the past few years, he has been diligently crafting a unique musical identity, producing and curating electronic dance music that seamlessly blends elements of minimal, house, and techno.

With a background rooted in both music and technology, Boss channels his expertise into innovative soundscapes, all while honoring the rich heritage of electronic music. His approach is playful yet deliberate, consciously steering clear of overused musical clichés. This no-nonsense ethos has led to releases on esteemed labels such as Ba Dum Tish, X-Kalay, Dungeon Meat, and Locus. His dynamic performances as both a DJ and live artist have graced renowned festivals like Awakenings and Loveland, as well as iconic venues including 93 Feet East, Bret and Lofi. Simultaneously, he continues to release music independently through his BPDUBS imprint, producing limited-edition cuts in a basement in Rotterdam, where he maintains complete control over both the musical and technical facets of his work.

Boss’s recent releases have garnered support from some of the industry’s most respected artists, including Fumiya Tanaka, Samuel Deep, Enzo Siragusa, Chris Stussy, Voigtmann, Janeret, and Josh Baker, to name a few. With several upcoming projects in the pipeline, he remains committed to pushing boundaries and sharing his distinctive sound with the world.
