Centrific - Live From The Great Beyond 2024 (27 - 07 - 2024)

While this is technically the "B side" mix of Stos' soon to be released mixtape "Acid Disco Mediterra" the designation was merely given because it was the second one recorded.  This mix more accurate represents the sets Stos played during their past parties at Neptune Room this past year.  This mix is has a broader array of sounds featuring artist from around world with a heavy focus on the Mediterranean (including France).  

The mix (and thus the tape) closes with Taffy's "I Love My Radio" - a song whose chorus was part of the inspiration for the name "Midnight FM".

Patrick Russell is a true veteran of the US underground, perhaps one of the last unsung heroes of a now lost era in the Midwest. A genuine sonic storyteller, he magically transforms the diaspora of acid, pure jack energy, and hints of IDM into a deep, fluent sonic dialog that never fails to devastate both minds and dance floor.

A Detroit-bred DJ, artist, and producer active since the early 90's, Patrick has now made New York City his home. Perhaps best known as a key figure in the legendary No Way Back parties, his ability to weave intensely unique, long-format narratives has earned him critical acclaim and repeat performances at Japan’s Labyrinth festival, Berghain, Unsound, and DEMF/Movement. Patrick has also been steadily building a strong catalog of high-profile productions to compliment his increasingly varied, hypnotic, and in-demand DJ sets; his recent 3-track remix EP on The Bunker New York also marks his induction as an official resident DJ at the long-running Brooklyn party.

His consummate taste and disciplined execution have created a respect that cannot be purchased. Patrick Russell is not just a name to watch, he is someone to be experienced.

“On a distant exoplanet, a once-thriving civilization had been decimated by storms and environmental chaos. Their advanced society, rich in music, dance and traditions was lost to time, leaving only remnants of their culture scattered across the landscape.

Centuries later, a nomadic species arrived on the planet, seeking signs of life outside of their home. As they explored the barren ruins, they stumbled upon an ancient building which appeared to be a former gathering space.

Among the debris, they discovered a battered electronic device, its surface etched with a strange symbol and worn by the elements and time.

Curious, they activated the device, and frequencies filled the air with haunting melodies and rhythmic patterns. The sounds echoed through the building, reverberating and pulsating in the space. They had never encountered anything quite like it. This music, a remnant of the past, seemed to convey stories of joy, struggle, and connection.”

DJ Hockey approaches techno by intermingling layers of contrasting elements. Defining characteristics for his selections are grounded, thick, encompassing atmospheres. Psychedelia is present in all of his musical expressions, crafting dynamic journeys resulting in playful and groovy sets.

With releases on labels Fixed Rhythms, PPRZ, Modelfuture and RF Records, DJ Hockey is propelling his interpretation of techno with his productions; most recently with his debut vinyl release titled Push:Pull on Fixed Rhythms.

DJ Hockey started PPRZ Records and mix series with Adam 2 with the intention to showcase techno from the PNW and beyond, with a cheeky nod to queer culture in underground dance music.

A style of electronic music that has long represented the spirit and soul of the underground, Techno has the power to unite and guide people through the peaks and valleys of life.
