Improvisación cortes de tiempo y espacio



Estudie artes plásticas en el instituto de Arte Contemporáneo y en la Universidad de Chile, a pesar
de siempre sentir la duda de las dietas educacionales y su arbitrariedad, recogí cosas importantes.
Aún recuerdo la primera vez que vi Le Grand verre de Marcel Duchamp, y reconocí algo cercano
que tenía que recorrer. Desde generaciones mi familia paso de la carpintería a la mecánica, de la
madera al acero y así; de los moldes machos de plomo a Étant donnés, de la trizadura del vidrio a
la Veladura, de la imprenta al computador.

Joseph Beuys, es un artista al cual siempre vuelvo una y otra vez con trabajos como:
Muestra tus heridas, Cómo explicar cuadros a una liebre muerta, Coyote, Bosque de piedras,
plantar un árbol sobre la piedra que era la fluidez del magma, lo primitivo, salvaje y lo esencial de
la forma. El movimiento artístico Fluxus como también Robert Rauschenberg
la pintura de Giorgio Morandi, Jackson Pollock, Francis Bacon

puedo ver en ellos una angulación de muchas otras partes y muchas otras cosas más.

Siempre he buscado en el dibujo la manera de entender el espacio, y en los últimos años el uso
del papel de arroz tinta china y pinceles gruesos de marta, busco dejar un canal abierto 
para que ritmo y forma  hablen libremente a través de un comienzo y un final.
Paralelamente, mi taller de pintura a finales de los 90 comenzó a transformase en un lugar de
experiencias sonosas y fotográficas, diapositivas, negativos, fotogramas, polaroid, grabados,
micrófonos, planchas de acero y tubos de fierro, cadenas, cerebros, módulos, multiefectos,
teclados, computador, guitarras, batería. Einstürzende Neubauten, Sonic Youth y Brian Eno

La guitarra me permite usar ambas manos y pies, experimentando vibraciones que muestran el
ritmo interno de mi propio cuerpo. Busco perforar y cortar como en una tela de Lucio Fontana,
hacer del gesto un objeto, una sustancia y constructos; busco una síntesis a través de elementos
físicos, color, como el elemento del espacio; sonido, como el elemento del tiempo y el movimiento
que se desarrolla en el tiempo y en el espacio. Procesando señales desde y a través de la guitarra
que se superponen, se invierten y se cruzan usando loops que tejen texturas como si buscara
diseccionar el tiempo y el espacio.

Improvisar es muy importante porque intento construir sonidos en el mismo lugar, en la misma
hora del día y sentir la energía de las personas presentes, manejar el volumen que puede variar
dependiendo del ruido ambiente, tramar a través de él, o hacer pequeños sonidos si las personas
están en silencio. Invitando a ese silencio, a más silencio, y poder ver los residuos que flotan en
aire: del ruido al orden, del orden al caos, del caos a las capas y al sonido.

He participado en clínicas con fred frith y ha sido significativo también para mí a través del
tiempo, músicos como: La monte young, Christian Fennesz, David Sylvian y sobre todo estudiar
la obra de John Cage (Silence 1961) tratando siempre de entender y ver como su impacto hoy en
día es incuantificable y aun así, saber que la música que más me gusta es aquella de la cual no
he oído hablar todavía

Born in the city of Sid bel Abbes, in the region of Algeria that gave birth to rai music, Sofiane Saidi, inventor of oriental glam. began his musical career at an early age in local bands before moving to Paris. In 1996 he joined the afro hip-hop group Tukuleur, signed at the time to Universal, going on to collaborate with drum and bass artist and producer Naab on the album 'Salaam Aleikoum' in 1998. At the same time he toured across Europe with another band, Yog Sothoth, whose album 'Minaret' was released in 2001. 

In 2003 he worked on the album 'Le Dernier Cri' by Ali Dragon, a project from members of French bands Louise Attaque and Antidote. While touring this project, at a festival in Spain his distinctive voice caught the attention of Natacha Atlas, who invited him to London to record 2 duets with her on her album 'Mish Maoul' released in 2006. Following this he continued his travels on tour with the Sidi bel Abbes based rai outfit Raina Rai, legendary in Algeria as the first group to play rai as a live band. 

Back in Paris, Sofiane finally began work on an album of his own. He named the project 'El Morjane' Arabic for 'The Coral,’ a metaphor for the rarest and most precious things in life. The songs, all written in Arabic, tell in the manner of the old classic Egyptian musical dramas, the joys and sorrows of their protagonists: the ironies of fate in 'Mektoub' the memories of 'Gasbah ' and, of course, the universal theme of love. 

Working between Brest, Algeria, Paris and London, Sofiane Saidi has collaborated on the album with Jean Baptiste Ferre (Orchestre National de Barbes) and Tim Whelan (Transglobal Underground) along with a number of Paris based Algerian artists, and, on 'Kallimatte' a guest appearance from Natacha Atlas. 

Meanwhile Sofiane has been involved in several other projects including the release of a live album with Natacha Atlas HYPERLINK "http://www.natacha-atlas.com" www.natacha-atlas.com and the creation of ‘El Taqa’ by the Breton group Startijenn HYPERLINK "http://www.startijenn.com" www.startijenn.com 


Currently, in advance of the release of 'Al Morjane' Sofiane Saidi is working as musical director of a cabaret touring in France performing a veritable explosion of oriental glamour. HYPERLINK "http://www.sofianesaidi.com" www.sofianesaidi.com 

Né dans le berceau de la musique raï (Sidi bel abbes), Sofiane Saidi, créateur de l’oriental glam, fait ses premières armes très jeune dans des groupes locaux puis s’installe à Paris. En 96 il rejoint le groupe afro hip-hop Tukuleur (Universal Music) ; il collabore avec l’artiste Naab sur l’album "Salam aleikoum" en 98 (Bloom records), en parallèle il sillone les scènes d’Europe avec Yog Sothoth et enregistre l’album "Minaret "(2001). En 2003, il participe cette fois à l’album "le dernier cri" du collectif Ali Dragon (Label atmosphérique-universal) qui réunissait la section rythmique de Louise Attaque et Antidote.



C’est lors d’un festival en Espagne, en Août 2003, que la voix singulière de Sofiane retient l’attention de Natacha Atlas. Cette dernière l’invite à Londres et deux duos naîtront ("Oully" et "La li khaouf") qui figurent sur l’album de la chanteuse, "Mish maoul" (beggars group-naïve-avril ), puis il rejoint pour une tournée algérienne le groupe de raï légendaire "Raïna raï". De retour à Paris, il décide enfin d’écrire tout un album. Il élabore un projet "El Morjane" ou "Le corail", une métaphore des choses précieuses et rares de la vie. Ces chansons écrites dans sa langue maternelle, racontent, à la manière des comédies musicales égyptiennes, les joies et les tourments de leurs héros : La tragédie désopilante des destins "Mektoub", les souvenirs "Gasbah", et le thème universel de l’amour ! 
Entre Brest (CCM) l’Algérie, Paris et Londres, il collabore sur cet album avec Jean baptiste Ferre (l’Onb), Tim Wellan le fondateur du groupe londonien mythique (Transglobal underground )

Producer and Tunisian DJ, Deena Abdelwahed arrives in France at the age of 26 after having made her arms on the Tunis stage and participated in the Arabstazy Collective. Her hybrid DJ sets at the forefront of subcultures, including her DJ set at Sonar in 2017 (Top 10 of the NY Times festival) reveal the young Tunisian at festivals and events requiring the demanding clubbing (Boiler Room, Concrete, Room For Resitance , Säule / Berghain ...). Only novelty and daring count for a place in Deena's playlists.

Cette journée, inscrite dans le cadre du festival Jean Rouch permet de faire un état des lieux de la production universitaire française au documentaire. 
Les deux films primés sont édités en DVD dans le catalogue de la Société française d'anthropologie visuelle (SFAV) et distribués dans le réseau de bibliothèques des universités participantes. 
L’ édition 2019 de Premiers Regards est organisée  par  Zoé Geslin et Oriane Monfort.
