Growing up in Boston we had many DJ role models. There was Biscuithead records owner, former Loft resident and Utopia founder, DJ Bruno, the godfather of Boston's Deep4Life scene house community. Of course the king of Digging, club rocking, DJ Kon, our disco mentor. Then there was 4Front Records owner and founder of the Rinse and the Boston Jungle/D&B scene, DJ Statik. The list goes on and on, but one of the most important was unsung deep house hero KC aka K Civ. As resident at monthly dance gathering Soul Revival and Bruno's Utopia, he showed us that eclectic, multi-cultural sounds could make people move even at a dance-party.

We've stayed in touch with KC over the years and recently he's been sending us a string of amazing edits that have been all over our DJ sets. Now, to continue our FREE EDIT SERIES on Soul Clap Records, we present to you 4 of our favorites. Club tested and ready for any eclectic dancefloor or set of ears.

Fresh off a trip to the watercooler, London’s @clivefromaccounts is circling back with his most expansive offering to date, the full length LP “The Very Best Of Clive From Accounts.” Action items include lead-off single “Save Me” with its driving organ stabs, soulful vocals, exuberant steel pans and just a touch of acid, as well as second single “Heavier” which lives up to its name as a dark and weighty club number that boasts some heavy toasting from Riko Dann. But you’ll also want to go ahead and put a pin in “Konsumu Suru” for a more melancholic tone with Japanese vocals by Maya Kuroki & violin by Jessica Roch, the mideastern tinged “It Began,” and classic drum & bass vibes of “Spectrum” amongst others!

We’ve run the numbers and offered this record in an expanded 10 track digital version and 7 track vinyl 12” sampler, that includes a special intra-office easter egg! A true win-win, this varied EP really fleshes out the depth and breadth of Clive’s wheelhouse, and is a deep dive into modern UK club sounds.

Having established itself with EPs from Duke Slammer and DMX Krew, Dublin's Modern Magic welcomes Bari's Armonics for the label's third release. A trained pianist and resident DJ/curator of the We Talk event series in his home city, Armonics draws influence from electronic music across the past 40 years: Chicago & acid house, italo- & electro-disco, new wave, synth-pop and vaporwave.

His 'Italowave' style is a fusion of these retro-futuristic and cosmic styles, forged through Armonic's production processes which include cassette recordings, vintage synths & modern Korg/Roland gear. The 'Look Alive' EP is the producer's second release, following a debut on Slow Motion in late 2016.

Accompanying the EP's three original tracks is an anthemic, piano-led remix of 'Red Eye' by International Feel act Black Spuma, aka Lauer (Tuff City Kids/Arto Mwambe) and Fabrizio Mammarella (Telespazio).
