Today we are sheltering ourselves from the storm with a super cozy mix from @lecoutelier aka the Swiss army knife! Part of the crew of @boudoirmoderne, he is also sharing his artworks & record collection on @ disastro.discoteca, and it seems like he also has time to record a very cool set for us. Through this journey shaped with different melodies of Italo & indie dance , you will also spot voice extracts of 3 different documentaries around Italo Disco giving it a super warm & chill vibe like you would be driving that car slowly in the night desert :  « Distant Planet: The Six Chapters of Simona »  the latest ARTE documentary "Italo disco, the sparkling sound of the 80's") and a last piece of movie called Italo legacy.

For our 4 anniversary of Italo Moderni we invited to Nitsa Club our friend @the-hacker to closing the night with a special Dj set recorded the night of 26/05 in Sala Apolo Nitsa.
 We are preparing a new Vinyl EP from The Hacker with big remixes! Soon on Italo Moderni.

Hi and Welcome to Italo Moderni

Almost weekend and we are releasing a new inspiring mix by the Programmer at Operator radio, event producer, cultural researcher and dj; Krismika is heavily involved both on and off stage in Rotterdam's nightlife. Her sound is heavily influenced by the months she spent in Prague in 2021. She saw here that the sound of Prague's nightlife was a lot darker and gloomier than what she knew from Rotterdam. As a dj her sound yields a broad selection of tunes within the genres of Electro, New Beat, EBM, Wave and Italo. A dark combination destined to get (and keep) you dancing.

I make weird music for weird people. I tried to copy what I hear in the work of others but I always end up with different music solutions. I thought that was the wrong way till I started focusing on the timbre and it helped me to burst out. I spent ages with the analog synthesizers looking for that right tone color and little by little the music structure came up on its own.

Later I added guitar sound and different solutions of percussion which led me to minimize the digital sound from my work eventually.

My strange and odd voice component came last. I had a certain phrase in my mind that completed the melody perfectly. So I started using my voice to get the right tone color more often, even though I said that I would never be a singer in the past.

I am more of a night person, usually, I find peace in my mind which is a must for music making.

Le Coutelier @lecoutelier
One of founding member of Boudoir Moderne @boudoirmoderne, collective and label based in Toulouse, France. Organizing gigs and stuffs in different venues over there since 2010 until the pandemic, focusing on large spectrum of synth music going from cold (Rave in the Cave - coldwave goth postpunk & else’s) to hot (Disastro Discoteca - Italo disco synth pop).
Started djing at that time under the moniker of Le Coutelier also known as Matt de la Coutellerie on Facebook because of his graffiti alias back then… but always collecting music since teenage years.

Also running a two weeks radio show named Foutoir Moderne at local radio FMR Toulouse since 2016 and started requesting guestmixes in 2020 with the beginning of the pandemic  as forced to broadcast in distance. Started with close friends then added more and more…. Who knows ? The world has no limit !

DJ et créateur d’ambiances atypiques, @lecoutelier est une figure incontournable de la scène électronique toulousaine. Membre du collectif @boudoirmoderne, pillier des soirées Disastro Discoteca, il est également aux commandes du "Foutoir Moderne", une émission diffusée sur Radio FMR, et qui propose toutes les deux semaines un guestmix différent.

Ses mixs se distinguent par une approche cinématographique et narrative, où les voix et les textures sonores se mélangent a des sons italo, indie ou dark disco. Pour XDisco #5, son talent pour le story telling s'exprime au travers d'un mix concept, qui nous emmène dans un Japon révé, celui dont rêvaient les pionniers de l'Italo Disco dans les années 80.
