Niles Elliston’s music career started in elementary school when he began playing various instruments including the saxophone and guitar.  At age 12 Niles studied guitar formally for five years, during which time he became proficient in blues, classical, and classic rock.  His instructor saw great potential in his natural musical ability and started to prep him for the possibility of attending Berklee College of Music in Boston, one of the most prestigious music schools in the world.  
 
Niles decided to continue his studies in California to stay close to friends and family.  But his instructor persisted, booking recording sessions for Niles in a small studio in Oakland, California.  This is where Niles began to realize that his passion extended beyond being a musician to the overall studio production and songwriting experience.
 
Exploring this new interest, Niles began producing hip-hop in 1996 under the name "The Beatsmith" and worked with various artists of underground albums such as IMC, Silhouette, Immoral, Phantom, Dom, Rastis Paps, and many others.  Many of these songs were produced in his house in Sunol, California, in a small room called "The Library," with rudimentary equipment and analog tape 4-track recorders.  This room became a go-to resource for many underground Bay Area hip-hop artists during the late 90's.  
    
 
 
 
 
 
 
 
   


With a growing clientele base, Niles decided to invest in advancing his music career.  He attended Los Angeles Recording School for Audio Engineering and Music Production in 2001. There, he began to understand the art, science, and business of the music industry. He started working with more artists, adopting new ideas and perspective on music and the industry along the way.  By the end of the year, he was working as an audio engineer intern for Rafelson Media Corporation in Hollywood, California.
 
Following a brief interruption, to pursue a joint career as a firefighter, Niles built a full production and mastering studio fully equipped with industry standard equipment and software in 2014. He continues to operate an online beat licensing storefront named "Bound Beats," where he produces a variety of hip-hop instrumentals specifically formatted for the use of lyricists and other music media.
 
Looking to expand his business in 2015, Niles began experimenting with new genre of music composition that encompasses a mix of hip-hop, pop and low tempo EDM instrumentals.  His music is currently available for listening and purchasing on over 30 different online music stores and Internet radio stations including iTunes, Spotify, Amazon, and Pandora.
