For this record I first went out to New York to record with some of the daptone records guys to get the main groove Of the tune. Then I had to travel out to Van Nyus to record a children's choir, which was the most nerve racking thing I have done in my entire life! Having a group of 7-11 year olds sing your song is quite the feeling. I then finished up the song with Mike Avery in Chicago. He was one super soulful dude and really captured the golden era funk vibes that I love so much. Overall, this is a song that is a total funk dance party. Enjoy with friends, preferably in a room full of disco balls :)

The resurgence of Golden Era R&B continues with the reformation of Grammy Award winning hit makers, Blackstreet.

Recognised as one of the top vocal groups of the ‘90’s, the groups platinum selling debut album has become one of the ‘’must have’’ albums in every R&B fans collection spawning the hit singles ‘’Before I Let You Go’’, ‘’Booti Call’’, U Blow My Mind’’ and ‘’Joy’’ as well as instant classic album cuts in ‘’Baby Be Mine’’ and the incredible cover of Stevie Wonder’s ‘’Love’s In Need’’. The popularity of the group grew with their pop breakthrough on their 1996 album, ‘’Another Level’’ and the inescapable world-wide smash hit, ‘’No Diggity’’ which featured Dr Dre. Followed up by the hit single ‘’Before I Let You Go’’ and high level collaborations with Jay Z, Mya, Mase, Ja Rule, Eve and Janet Jackson, Blackstreet became the go to group for vocal harmonies and styling.

The group released two further albums, ‘’Finally’’ and ‘’Level II’’ before disbanding and leaving a massive gap in the R&B genre. Fast forward to 2015, the groups original voices: Chauncey Black, Mark Middleton, Levi Little and Eric Williams, who were responsible for the catalogue of smash hits the group boasts from the first two albums, are back in the saddle and have not missed a beat as was evidenced in the recent mash up collaboration with modern day superstar, Aloe Blacc on the Jimmy Kimmel show telecast to millions around the world.

Blackstreet are now heading to Australia for a series of live shows in Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane. If you are a fan of feel good ‘90s R&B, then be sure to catch Blackstreet live where you can expect a night of non stop hits and plenty of surprises. They don’t make them like this anymore.
