This song is an inspiring and uplifting collaboration between artist Taylor Liston and producer “Concentrated Vapor”(Jesse Schofield). Inspired by the beautiful wild mystery of nature, and the journey through the duality of life. 

It was recorded in October 2021. The vocals were never mixed and mastered, but this is a song that keeps coming back to me so I decided to finally release it May 2024 on SoundCloud. I’ll put it on all platforms when I can get it professionally engineered. This track means a lot to me and I hope it can bring you some of the same deep feelings it has brought me over the years! :)

Lighter Than a Feather

This Song was inspired by the winters of the Western Pennsylvania forests ❄️🌳 It was written and recorded by Taylor Liston in 2022. 

I noticed that so many people in my town were complaining about our winters, about the cold, and about the snow. I was working in a grocery store at the time and every day, without fail, I had customers complaining about the weather. Then I would get home and go hike into the beautiful snow covered forest! It was always a magical feeling- filled my soul with peace, stillness, awe, wonder, and adventure. I wish I could share some of this magic I see in it with the world 🌎 “Some people may never see…” but I’d love to share anyways in hopes that more people can enjoy the magic of winter- the magic of nature 🌌

Mother Winter

This song was produced and recorded on a 4 day snowy winter cabin adventure in January 2021 with the intention of making music with full expression! This song we really honed in on finding the light even in the darkest places of our lives. “Depression ends the day we learn to love what we see.” We poured our hearts out on this track and every time we listen back we are reminded of those raw emotions. It has served as a mantra and reminder for us to give this life everything we have, and to keep our own mortality in mind as a humble and stoic motivator to bring our full passion and appreciation for every moment. “Life ain’t guaranteed you gotta spit it like you’ll die soon, unpacking all this passion from the eyes of a monsoon…” 

Chorus lyrics: 

“Our path, it has been destined 
The heart, no more protecting

(The lyric “A maze” was intended to have a double meaning with sounding like “Amazed”)

Light in You

This song was recorded in July 2021 

I wrote this song inspired by the concept of “peace is in the present moment.” In 2019 I had read the book Be Here Now by Ram Dass and had been for many years prior inspired by the teachings of Alan Watts. This idea that all we have is this moment right here right now lead me to great peace and presence in my own life. It’s always a good reminder for me and so this song is a light hearted reminder to live in the present and have fun! 

I was living in Mars, PA at the time in my first apartment shared with my girlfriend Holli. I was constantly recording and writing music that year in my studio and coming up with song ideas on the Boss RC 300 loop pedal! This was one of those song ideas. It was a newfound tool for creation that opened the door for so many song ideas and it got me a lot better at the guitar. I was only going on my 2nd year of playing the guitar at the time and I was experimenting constantly with how I could make music and write songs with my guitar. Previously I was used to only making music either through writing to a friend’s instrumental, or by my own vocals unaccompanied by any instrumentation. Playing the guitar completely opened up a whole new sound, style, and creation process for me and I am eternally grateful for that and this new found passion! The guitar has helped me evolve and grow as a musician in every way. 

This song was also unique in that I was able to collaborate with my dad “TNT” -Trent Liston. He’s been into drumming since we were little kids and we had helped re-inspire his passion for music and he took upon a new hobby of producing music himself. It always feels really good to collaborate with him. Hopefully I can get him to collaborate more with me in the future!

In the Here Right Now

This song was filled with passion and poetry with an ominous yet prophetic undertone. It was intended to be the intro song on our next album together. 

We had the pleasure of performing it together in 2019, our senior year of college, for family, friends, fans, and strangers in Don’s house at the time due to an unexpected turn of events. We had planned that night to perform at Euro Gyro (a popular pizza shop/ bar in Kent, Ohio), but a fire marshal happened to be there and told us that there were way too many people there to see us, and that that was going to be a fire hazard. He said that the max limit is 50 people which was wild to us because that previous November we had well over 100 people there. So we had to make a quick decision and we spread the word as fast as we could to meet at Don’s house and we gave out the address. Then we quickly set up our stage and sound equipment thanks to John Soros! And the night was a ton of fun! We had a fog machine and a professional light crew. Being inside a house with a fog machine made it hard to see a few people in front of you which was really fun! The twins’ parents and little sister were there along with Dons siblings! It was a night to remember. 

A classic case of a spontaneous adventure and how rolling with the mystery often leads to the best memories! It also just happened to be on April 19th so those who support the ganja got to celebrate with us. Our friend even offered the twins’ parents a blunt which they politely turned down hahaha.

“I remember being locked In every day for a few weeks writing lyrics. During that time the second half of my verse was inspired by a trippy lucid dream that I had had. I woke up in the middle of the night at around 3 or 4 AM and I immediately started writing ideas that I got from that dream…” -Taylor

This song was a fun collaboration between childhood best friends. Taylor and Kyle have been friends since they were 3 years old so there’s a deep rooted chemistry that is felt every time these two collaborate, and you can feel it on this track. The instrumental was a masterpiece bringing out deep emotions through the keys and the electric guitar. 

“We got really experimental with this one and we tried playing in a key that I had never played in before on the guitar-which is always super fun! (D# Minor) Kyle laid down a simple drum groove for me at first with a tempo set at 167 and then he laid back to listen. We both were lost in the melodies that were finding their way through my strings. We were in that relaxed late at night, dream-like state of mind as we were navigating this creation. Kyle put the perfect reverby effects on my guitar and as the notes were bending I felt like a soulful older man or woman was singing their heart out. I closed my eyes and envisioned purple ocean waves crashing and rippling as I listened on a loop to all the layers of the music that had channeled through us. So that’s what we named the instrumental “Purple Waves.” Then when I got home later that night at like 3 AM I tapped into my studio and freestyled into the NTA-1 Rode mic. And the whole song wrote itself. I was feeling every emotion and I knew this song was going to help me through some hard times. As an artist every now and then you just get that special feeling when a song comes through that is going to be important or impactful in your life. And I’ve come to know that those songs will be equally impactful in others lives. It was an honor to make this one and I look forward to many more collaborations with my brother BallsoKly”

Purple Waves

The story behind this song is that I was writing in my journal ✍️ at night intentions I wanted to bring into my life. And then I recorded a voice memo speaking so many positive affirmations I wanted to bring into my life and embody: “I’m a Channel of Love, I’m a channel of trust, I’m a channel of faith, a channel of strength, of openness, of empathy, of healing, of kindness, of patience, of wonder, of passion, of amazement, of laughter, of healing music, of inspiring music, etc.” I realized how powerful and good it feels to speak out loud these kinds of things I want to bring into my life. “I AM” is a really powerful statement. 

If you can’t fully feel or buy into this concept then I recommend to go out alone in the forest 🌳 and really breathe deep and focus fully on the things you want to bring into your life. And honestly it helps me from time to time to have a little help from marijuana or psychedelics like mushrooms, LSD, Ayahuasca. But it isn’t necessary and I understand that these plants may not be well received by everyone. But for me they really do help, so I believe it’s worth mentioning. I believe this waking life works the same way that dreams do, except that it just feels like time takes longer for things to happen in our waking reality. When I think of something in my dreams it is usually pretty immediately created it’s like thoughts just instantly materialize into the dream reality. I believe our thoughts carry the same power in our waking world it just takes, or feels like it takes, much longer to “buffer” and materialize in our world. But I believe the stronger our beliefs the more efficient our thoughts will become reality. 

All of the lyrics and recordings for this song was done in one night on 4/20 through a solo cannabis ceremony with intention. I journaled, I spoke all of these affirmations, I did some yoga, and then I played my guitar with some ideas I had come up with the previous few nights. The guitar pieces were inspired by Xavier Rudd’s tuning and picking style from his song “Messages” that I was learning to play at the time. It was so much fun to play around in that tuning, and I really loved the sounds that I was coming up with. They were really happy and uplifting for me! I started freestyling some vocal ideas while playing. And writing ideas down in my notes on my phone. Then I went to the studio in my room and recorded all of the guitar parts on the Shure SM7B. Then I made some drums with I believe the funk drum kit on FL Studio, and then I recorded all of my vocals through the SM7B. The opening part is a riser created by me reversing a chord I played. The ending is a couple harmonic strums. I really love playing with harmonics- Alan Gogoll originally inspired me to get into playing around with them :)

Identical twins you probably knew in a past life ;) Taylor Liston & Carter Liston. Nature/reggae/hip-hop/folk/rock/alternative influences. 

Back in 2016 they formed “Wavey Pack" - Hip/hop group based in Kent, Ohio with their friends Kam2gnarly and Donny Wo. They performed and made songs together through 2019 

Taylor and Carter since then have formed “Boundless SpiriT” a twin duo experimenting with many different styles and genres. You can find more of their music on Spotify/ Apple Music/ YouTube and many other platforms. “Weight of the World” released 2021. 

Taylor has been also releasing solo songs under the name “Taylor Liston” such as “Gamma’s Song” 2022 and “No Goodbyes” 2024. Taylor plays the guitar in many of his songs as well as Boundless SpiriT’s songs. He’s begun a journey of self-producing.
