Lui Mafuta presents This Ain’t Jazz, a boundary-pushing new EP that fuses live musicianship
with electronic sensibility - an exploration of jazz influence through a deeply personal and
collaborative lens. 

The release is available on digital platforms and as a limited vinyl edition.

At the heart of This ain’t Jazz is a long gestating idea: to bridge electronic music with an
organic, band oriented aesthetic. Lui Mafuta reunited with four longtime friends and
collaborators: Paul Janoschka, Felix Roos, Jonas Esser and Benedikt Jäckle - who all studied
music together in Mannheim before scattering across the globe. Under the loose collective
named Weiller, they came together once again to create a sound that lives between genres.

The EP is a globe spanning production. Piano was recorded on Paul Janoschka’s Steinway in
his Frankfurt apartment; trumpet and clarinet were tracked in a rural French studio with Felix
Roos; drums came from New York via Jonas Esser; and saxophone was laid down in Lui’s own
studio in Mannheim alongside Benedikt Jäckle. All elements were finally assembled and
shaped into a cohesive vision back in Mannheim.

“There’s less synth work on this one than usual,” Lui says. “Most of the textures come from
the instruments themselves and a lot of sample mangling. I wanted it to feel raw, human and
alive.”
Despite its title, This Ain’t Jazz is a love letter to jazz’s influence. “I called it that just to be
safe,” Lui jokes. “It isn’t jazz but it’s coming from that space.” The project also serves as a
reconnection to his roots: two of the four featured musicians are teenage friends from his
earliest days making music.

Yello is a Swiss electronic music group formed in 1979 in Zurich, best known as a duo consisting of Boris Blank (composer, producer, electronics) and Dieter Meier (vocals, lyrics). They are widely regarded as pioneers of electronic, synth-pop, and experimental music, known for their innovative use of sampling and sound design.

Yello’s music is characterized by Boris Blank’s richly layered electronic compositions and Dieter Meier’s deep, expressive, and often theatrical vocal style. Their sound blends elements of electro-funk, new wave, ambient, and avant-garde pop, creating a distinctive and cinematic atmosphere. The group also places strong emphasis on visual art and aesthetics, drawing inspiration from film, contemporary art, and surrealism.

The band achieved international success in the 1980s with iconic tracks such as “Oh Yeah,” “The Race,” “Desire,” and “Vicious Games.” Their 1985 album Stella marked a major breakthrough and established Yello as a global act. Many of their songs have been widely used in films, television shows, and advertising, further cementing their cultural impact.

Despite avoiding traditional pop stardom, Yello has remained influential for decades, continually evolving their sound while staying true to their experimental roots. Today, they are celebrated as visionary innovators whose work has had a lasting influence on modern electronic music.

Bow Miller (1975) won his first dj contest when he was 14 back in the late eighties -but it was not before 2012 he began to be real active on the danish underground scene. Playing alongside Be Svendsen (DK), Satori (NL), Kenneth Bager (DK) among others Bow Miller is not an unknown name on the international scene of slow house. Bow Miller has an addiction for edits and bootlegs. His widely known edit of Cornelis Vreeswijk is already a classic banger and is being rotated on radios around the world. On the Danish National Radio P3 Bow Miller has been played so much that they gave him the knick name “King of Bedouin Boogie”. 

Bow is the one half of the dj duo Angebot. The dj duo's other half is Bow's good friend and music connaisseur Backhaus.
