The river now slows as it passes a tall, dark, looming coniferous forest. Fairy folk are glimpsed between the trees

The landscape opens out again as it reaches the city of Prague

We celebrate the end of the river's journey as it joins the Elbe with a triumphant variation on the introductory theme

Schindler's List is the original soundtrack, on the MCA label, of the 1993 Academy Award- and Golden Globe-winning film Schindler's List starring Liam Neeson, Ben Kingsley, Ralph Fiennes and Caroline Goodall. The original score and songs were composed by John Williams, and features violin player Itzhak Perlman.

The album won the Academy Award and the BAFTA Award for "Best Original Score" and the Grammy Award for "Best Instrumental Composition Written for a Motion Picture or for Television". It was also nominated for a Golden Globe.

Steinway artist, Chad Lawson, decided Chopin needed a new introduction.  Along with violinist Judy Kang (Lady Gaga, Ryuichi Sakamoto) and cellist Rubin Kodheli (Kanye West, Norah Jones), Lawson has arranged ten Chopin works into a minimalist landscape.

It's a risk editing the "poet of the piano" but one that Chopin would be proud of.  

Taking 10 Chopin works, Lawson decided to scale the works down to a minimalist setting.  "I knew even if bare-bones, Chopin's works could still be as spellbinding as the original compositions we are so familiar with." says the pianist.

Here is another track from my recent reel-to-reel recording session.  I'm really pleased with the sound quality of the tape recording.  I hope you like it :)

I used a Yamaha U1 upright piano with two Rode NT5 mics recorded directly onto a Revox B77 reel-to-reel tape recorder.
