Following the success of the Yumi & The Weather E.P, We at XVI are delighted to welcome home one of our original family members, the mystic, elusive & relentlessly soulful Henry Wu with two beautifully crafted new tracks. 

Natural Complexion combines undeniable grooves with a vintage, lo-fi ambience, completed with Henry's vocals flowing seamlessly over the intertwined rhythms. On the flip side, Dutty Dub moves into jazz -infused broken beat territory, featuring dream -like synth waves washing over scattered drum patterns and some truly phenomenal keyboard playing.

Celebrating 20 years of Barely Breaking even, independent UK record label presents a series of exclusive DJ mixes to mark the occasion. Available in both mixed and unmixed formats, the series includes a stellar lineup of DJs, selecting their personal favourites and obscure gems from BBE's bounty of classic titles.

The first BBE20 mix in the series comes from highly respected UK DJ and mix-tape specialist Chris Read, the man behind BBC New Music Award winning electronica outfit Maylight and compiler of BBE's 2012 album 'Latin Concrete', which was featured as 'Album Of The Week' by the Independent newspaper. The first of two mixes produced by Chris in celebration of BBE's 20th birthday, the first installment guides the listener on a journey through some of BBE's sultry downtempo and hip hop cuts, steadily making its way toward warm soul and disco, expertly building up momentum over the course of 23 genre-hopping tracks in the mix's 65 minute run-time.

First Word Records is very pleased to welcome Yazmin Lacey to the label, with this her first offering, '90 Degrees'. 

2017 was an amazing year for this Nottingham-based singer; the release of her debut EP, 'Black Moon', was championed by people such as Gilles Peterson, gal-dem, Jamie Cullum and Jamz Supernova (BBC 1Xtra). Jamz also invited Yazmin to be a part of a live Maida Vale session along with the likes of Jordan Rakei, Moses Boyd, Oscar Jerome and Children of Zeus. The Brownswood 'Future Bubblers' graduate has also supported artists such as Ezra Collective and Fatima in recent times. 

Yazmin kicked off 2018 with a fine start too, by performing at the Worldwide Awards with Skinny Pelembe, and she returns to the road in Spring for a run of dates across the UK, as well as several festival appearances across Europe locked in, and a headline show at Rich Mix in London on April 5th. 

This first new musical offering for 2018 exemplifies just why Yazmin has caught the ear of international DJs and tastemakers, with her candid approach to songwriting, and a unique fusion of Neo-Soul and contemporary Jazz. 

In Yazmin's words: "'90 Degrees' is about that time of the day / night when there's a shift in pace and energy. When you decide to lock off from the 'outside' world and create your own atmosphere, take some time to give thanks for what's breathing love into your life and smoke off the fuckeries. Everyone needs a little routine for self preservation.
