Some context for the AU: Stede and Ed were placed together in the university dorms because they're both trans, though they initially assume it's because they're both a little older than the other first year students, having each taken a couple years off between high school and university. Stede has had top-tier care for his medical transition, but has never really had a chance to experience any kind of queer community. Ed, on the other hand, hasn't had as smooth a journey medically speaking, but is much more at home in his transness, and further along in his journey from an experiential and identity perspective. Also they're both so horny for each other that it's making them stupid.

Trans terminology: Ed and Stede are, obviously, both trans. The primary word used to describe both their genitals is "cock," but the word "cunt" is also used once. There is no penetration of any kind.
