Ed has seen hundreds of people fall to the warmth of his mother’s embrace by now—shy teens with newly-purchased flags around their necks like a cape, obviously, but also kinksters and furries and middle-aged lesbian couples and totally unassuming men who are probably at least ten years her senior.

Ed hasn’t seen much of his mom in the last fifteen minutes, though, because he’s been sort of kind of following a random guy through the Gayborhood Market.

Summary: When Manhattan veterinarian Crowley crashes his beloved Bentley into Eden City's historic angel statue - thanks to one troublemaking goat - he finds himself sentenced to 90 days as the small Utah town's only vet. The last thing he expects is to fall into bed with the goat's owner: Aziraphale, a flannel-wearing British ex-pat turned sustainable rancher with a penchant for bow ties and heated glances.

Their arrangement seems perfect: no-strings passion to pass the time until Crowley leaves for his Hollywood TV deal just before Christmas. But as autumn fades to winter in their cozy mountain town, they discover that hearts don't always follow the rules. It was Chauncey, Stede thinks. He led me out to the woods and said all these things about how I was a plague to my family, to you, and I shouldn’t have believed him, but I did, and then he shot himself and I was just running, I was halfway to my old estate before I realized and then I didn’t stop, I’m so sorry, Ed, I’m so sorry....
It’s the truth, and suddenly Stede would rather have Ed run him through than have to say it aloud. The idea of seeing Ed’s reaction to how weak he was, how frightened and helpless and wrong, is unbearable. Anyway, it’s Stede’s fault for running off, not Chauncey’s, so he can just...not mention him.

This is the canon era with a single change: in this world, through skill and/or difficult circumstances, people can learn the magic of manipulating time and space by drawing maps. Colonial powers train their sea captains in cartography as science so they can claim territory, literally drawing over Indigenous geographies across the globe. Ed, aka Blackbeard, is the most skilled rogue cartographer in the Caribbean, famous for creating spaces on maps where sea creatures assist him in capturing and looting ships. One day, Ed hears about a new rogue cartographer - the Gentleman Pirate, whose piratical maps are full of whimsy and imagination that others lack. They meet and learn that, even across space and time, together they are stronger than any force that tries to tear them apart.
