@grindvik and @sylvie-maziarz join forces following the Swedish techno giant’s remix of Sylvie’s track ‘Increased’ in 2019. With an accomplished category of releases from Maziarz throughout the last two years, the rising Berlin artist and Berghain regular Grindvik unleash their thunderous 5 track collaboration with none other than the virtuous Second State.

The EP launches with menacing strains and flurried hi-hats in ‘Bullet Tower’. Similarly to the other tracks on the EP, this cut narrates a story using a particular element, in this case the clattering bells and shuddering bass brooding throughout to create urgency, soon intensified by distorted acid lines. Next up is title track ‘Before We Run’, led by a ferocious heaving kick-drum and a bubbling vocal that ripples over the hysteria. Synth notes swirl throughout and gradually overwhelm the rhythm, before it bolts through and drives forward once again.

The flip-side launches with ‘Utopia’. Driven by an unusual, wild percussion and drawn out foreboding synths, the duo commands focus with unbroken kicks against whirring beeps, tumultuous keys and jolting claps. Taking us on a trancey paradisiacal odyssey is ‘Circles’. Characterised by the subdued sample of a hospital monitor at the beginning and end, with ethereal drawn out pads that take us on a journey between earth and the other side.

The final track incorporates dense sonics to build to climax. Sharp synths rise and decline to drive you into a trance, while shattering kick and snare drums roll throughout, awarding ‘Light Storm’ its place as a definitive roller on this release.

Our Global Mix series stops off in Scotland today, as we welcome the Pentland Park duo to the hot seat, with an hour of uplifting, yet moody electro, breaks and house club ready tracks. 

We first featured Glasgow DJs and producers Pentland Park back in November 2020, as we premiered their track titled 'Overcast', for La La' on her label, Brand New Records. The 4 track EP, which featured a KETTAMA remix got us thinking, "we have to get a mix from them", so here we are, a Global Mix from RJay & Kris, aka Pentland Park.

Pentland Park aka RJay & Kris are two best friends from Glasgow, who first met as resident DJ’s at the ‘Don’t Drop’ parties. Flash forward some years and the pair are now working together in the studio and on the decks. Taking much inspiration from their deep obsession with electronic music they are also trying to bring something different to the table with their productions & DJ sets.

For the next hour, stick the Pentland Park mix on and let it soundtrack your Thursday afternoon.

This mix that's been well worth the wait, as Bunkerterror steps up to the Local Selection hot seat for a well overdue contribution to our series.

A producer who needs little-to-no introduction here in Ireland, who continues to impress audiences and techno mainstays with his forceful industrial techno, gaining buckets of well-deserved attention with his productions, with huge support from artists like Perc, Paula Temple and most recently Rebekah to name just a few.

Most recently Bunkerterror remixed a track for the mysterious balaclava donned RIOT CODE, as he gave their 'No Witnesses' track the full Bunkerterror makeover, with a full on assault of dangerous and industrial techno to give a glimpse of where the exciting artist  can go with his productions.

For now, dive into this hour of power, with a 23 track mix featuring releases from the likes of VSK, Swarm Intelligence, UVB, Blacksun, Salameriya, ABSL, Militia and Schacke to name a few. This bangs!
