Sawlin and Subjected are a production duo from Berlin. Since meeting in 2006 courtesy of fellow producer Mørbeck, they have released definitive techno 12"s on Subjected's self-run imprint Vault Series. As a solo producer Sawlin has also released music on Delsin's sub label Ann Aimee and French label Technorama.

With such a strong heritage and stable of releases we caught up with the duo to discuss their affair with techno and reasons for starting up their own record label. The mix was recorded at Subjected's studio in Berlin and is 100% live. Sawlin used Ableton, an APC and an iPad, whilst Subjected used Traktor Pro with a Native Instruments Maschine to generate something completely new for us.

En 10 ans de Tsugi Radio, nous avons vécu posé nos micros dans quelques sites exceptionnelles : le Parc de Champagne à Reims, les douves d’un château avec un cochon à la broche qui rôtissait pendant le direct, une ancienne filature, un port fortifié par Vauban, une ancienne usine d’armement… aujourd’hui nous nous tenons sur 100 000 km de galeries souterraines, d’où ont été extraites, pendant près de 3 siècles, plus de 2 milliards de tonnes de charbon. On est dans le Nord de la France, à Oignies, où pour la 2ème année, le NAME Festival organise son open air, un peu humide cette année mais qu’importe ! Les musiques électroniques magnifiées dans une friche industrielle reconvertie en lieu de musique et de culture, et scénographié par le génie de la team d’Art Point M à l’origine du NAME. C’est aussi une des premières escales de la tournée des 10 ans de Tsugi Radio, et c’est un double anniversaire puisque ce sont aussi les 20 ans du NAME. Un festival dont, Ellen Allien, mon invitée du jour n’a pas ratée une seule édition.

À ses côtés, nous avons beaucoup de chance aujourd’hui puisque nous accueillons, Harold Manning, tout juste débarqué de Cannes, qui va assurer la traduction simultanée de cette rencontre.

Born and raised in the industrial suburbs of Turin, Stenny earned recognition in the last decade as both an accomplished producer and DJ. Exploring club culture and sound art, his journey has been one of constant research and reinvention, avoiding trends and the demands of contemporary music consumption while embracing the slower and more deliberate nature of his craft. 

Stenny’s work traverses the full electronic music landscape. Whether embracing new narrative structures and compositional experiments or consolidating the immediacy of a dancefloor-oriented project, each release marks a point of departure. Familiar yet constantly shifting, his sonic language remains identifiable within the experimental techno spectrum but expands beyond genre boundaries. 

Currently based in Munich, Stenny is an Ilian Tape affiliate and a Blitz Club resident. His artistic expression consists mostly of DJ sets and live performances. Fearless in his approach, he ventures through his broad range of musical influences with spontaneity and control, committed to creating an ever-unique and immersive experience.

Zombies In Miami is a project created by Cani & Jenouise and despite the name they are not crawling around Miami, but shining out their light from Mexico. The couple became one of the most prominent members of Mexico's vital electronic scene over the last decade. You can call their sound a rhythmic and synth-driven house and techno hybrid.

Before i started my festival season this year, i went to the studio in Berlin and recorded some tracks for my sets. 
These two tracks i´ve been playing again and again, so they became the soundtrack of my summer. 
They are as hypnotic and freaky as my DJ sets are. I used some of my favorite instruments, the 303, the 909 and the Minimoog to create two tracks full of murky, distorted vocals, strange breaks and pure drastic emotion in beat form.

This record is my definition of the Allien sound.

One of my recent projects is Vinylism, where i play vinyl sets in some of my favorite record stores all around the world. I started with Lucky Records Island, then Discos Paradiso in Barcelona and will continue at Ultrasuoni Rome, Smallville Paris and Phonica London.
Also my radio show Braincandy, is back on Ibiza Sonica, as a one hour mix every Monday from 7 - 8pm. 
And I´m touring with my „We Are Not Alone“ events, where i invite my favorite artists to play with me. Next Station is the ADE week in Amsterdam and Magda, Cassy and Johanna Schneider will join me. 
In Berlin, my favorite place is IPSE at the moment. We had a few amazing BPitch partys there this year, good times in the little warehouse and the beautiful garden on the riverside...
