Back in the days at the west-Saxon highlands there was a missile, which marked the starting point. When Credit 00 saw the legendary rocket rise on Tetris’ final screen, it was the first time he became aware of electronic music at all. Since then it actually hasn’t changed that much. He keeps pushing that buttons that belong to the impressive pool of music machines towered up next to his bed.
After moving to Dresden in 2000 to study fine arts, his passion for synthesizers and drum machines got nurtured through visits of Dresden’s club-canalisation. He quickly made himself a name as a DJ, who is just doing his own thing and got popular for that reason. As a part of the Idealfun-crew he started hosting parties always in the twilight zone between legal and illegal. This led to “Robo Dance”, Dresden’s only and (also for some other reasons) best Electro club night featuring guests like DMX Krew, Luke Eargoogle or Imatran Voima. The track Credit made with Randy Barracuda of Imatran Voima has probably been created some time after the show. Apparently, Randy was not in good shape anymore and so “Lebensraum” unmistakably bears Credit’s hallmarks.
For his own music he’s inspired by cannibal movies, number theory and birds. Still, his music is not easy to pigeonhole. After all, he loves Synth Wave, Electro, Afro, Kraut, Kosmische, Disco, Italo, Miami Bass and other Proto stuff – a lot of machine music. “Wave Memory” and “Eiserne Lunge”, his first tracks for Uncanny Valley, are good examples for this unpredictability.

Kevin McHugh has spent the last few years redefining his sound as LA-4A, focusing on what he terms "roots techno" after a long period working as Ambivalent. This direction is at its most palpable on his debut album Phonautograph, which is inspired by the redundancy of futurism. Tracks are titled after and inspired by obsolete technologies, from the titular early sound-recording device and the semantron, used to call monks to prayer, right up to the relatively freshly dumped dialup (which you can hear on the track); "Technologies that helped create a ‘tomorrow’, but were quickly obsolete by the time that tomorrow arrived," as LA-4A puts it himself. The track we're premiering here is "Capacitance", and appropriately enough it's brimming with electrical charge, acid fizzing through its core.

We welcome Fife born, Bristol/Berlin based Geoff Wright aka Kemback (Omena/Futureboogie) to Needwant. 

By day, Kemback teaches music production classes to students in Berlin, with such a musical back-ground behind him, his latest EP Moving Through Clouds is every bit exquisite as you'd think. Open-ing with the luscious 'I Need You', hi-hat, bongos and sumptuous strings are just some of the ele-ments that blend together seamlessly, a touch of modern jazz-house. The experimental combinations continue on 'Stepping Back', a heavy breaks track coupled with arps and saxophones. Whilst the hazy pads of 'Moving Through Clouds' goes down a more atmospheric route. The EP includes remixes from Soulpiction and Kim Brown (Needwant). 

Over the past ten years the Needwant mantra has been to push the very best in new talent, having provided the platform for the likes of Kiwi, The Mekanism, Maxxi Soundsystem, The Revenge and many more.

Boyard from Belfast Ireland, makes completely sick music and has his own imprint called Mystic Mountain Express and we trust those of a fine musical pedigree will check that out! We planned to release a complete album of these “old studio jams” but due to the sheer volume of wicked tunes felt it was better to break them down into two easily digestible eps. Fear not dear listener, both arrive with different tastes so you can enjoy them without moderation. A brief description of what transpires next: “Staring Into Space” is hot for the heads that love a square bass, and be honest ‘who doesn’t’? “Interstellar Express” comes strong on the breaks but has an understated acid vibe, with overlapping LFO sweeps and earworm vocal. A real groove builder. Totally spatial. “Night Shift” has a tribal dub mayhem meets a ”sort of Metro Area” vibe. Hard to not be into this. “Out of Sight” wraps things up with a 3/4 idm riddim thing going on and almost like a chem bros thing going on.. And i’m about it! Get lost in this collection of movin’ jams.
