Tom Harris aka Hidden Spheres, first made his mark on the underground circuit with his release ’The Bloos’ on legendary label Moods & Grooves. He is, however, most well-known for his continually repressed and in-demand EP ‘Waiting’, the debut release on Lobster Theremin’s off-shoot Distant Hawaii, which graced the top of many end-of-year lists. Within that same year, he made his debut on Bradley Zero’s Rhythm Section with the EP ‘Well Well’, which reached top 10 lists in dance charts around the globe. As a DJ, Hidden Spheres relies on everything from cosmic to Italo-disco to classic house, always drawing on his musical knowledge to inspire togetherness and inclusiveness on the dance floor. Can you feel it? Summer has truly arrived and the heat’s turned up to 11.  Good times are ahead as Palms Trax (we call him Jay) joins us on top form for the 14th episode of the Phonica mix series.

Jay’s been movin’ on up lately with a full schedule of DJ bookings, tight EP’s on Lobster Theremin and Dekmental plus a residency on Berlin Community radio that’s still going strong today. He’s developed a fluid live set that always changes depending on the booking and a real groove behind the decks which has earned him the closing set at P-bar after heavyweights Chez Damier & Gerd Janson. Once upon a time he even worked with us here at Phonica and now he’ll be playing across Europe all summer and flying over to Australia in November. He’s a humble dude and we’re happy people are catching onto his unique sound.

To  Celebrate the upcomping release of our Nu Groove compilation, Gerd Janson was kind enough to make us an awesome mix of his favorite Burrel Brothers tracks!

Recording under different aliases, the Burrell Brothers were the backbone
of Nu Groove Records. This New York label started in 1987 and took
inspiration from Trax Records, both musically and aesthetically. This
compilation compiles the absolute best of the Burrell's output and in
doing so is giving us a valuable insight to the much overlooked roots of
New York house music.
