Rolando Simmons lives in a desolate coastal town of Sweden and divides his time between a creaky old townhouse and two rural homes. The dreamlike environment of meadows, grasslands, hills and lakes, combined with his fascination for Drexciya, AFX and Isao Tomita inspired Rolando to make this odd fairy tale music. 

Similar to his heroes, Rolando uses a bunch of hardware: Alisa 1387, MS-20, MC-4, SQ-1, Blofeld, Machinedrum, TX-7, 606, Poly-800, Filterbank 2, VSR-3 reverb which all ends up in Renoise. Other inspirations include Sibylle Baier, Jandek, Vashti Bunyan and Debussy.

#afx \ best way i can explain this was falling in love with someone that didnt exist, it couldve been applied to anyone and everyone. liferush. I mean it was for luke's competition but when I was making it I obviously had other thoughts going around me ed. Was hard keeping it a secret from him, i had an advantage, i knew better than most what luke liked !-)  I gave the prize to the runner up, i forgot his name now. It's quite quiet becuase the sub is so loud and low, trade/off. \ Won the Future Music competition for the best Luke Vibert remix. Just got home from a 5hr jam session and was listening to a few tune's and checked on my friend from Spain and Lorraine had this cool original for lyric's and Mark Hall did the backtrack she sang to...sounds like a strat in the beginning but I grabbed my tele...soar finger's & all/Tele is D tuned and give it a ride with not much thought!! panned the sound a we bit to seperate and came up with this quick fix!!! In 1991 RePhleX records introduced the concept of 'Braindance' to label the music they release.
Often people equate Braindance and IDM. That is completely wrong. Braindance is More than IDM.
IDM is a style of electronic music, and Braindance isn't one.
Braindance is NOT a limp and lifeless set of sounds like 97% of everything that industry produces. It is the Music! A sound that contains feelings, emotions and inspiration!

Here is the text posted on the Rephlex website in the 90's:
