Desert Dwellers ~ Bliss Jungle

This is the first movement from the live performance of "Conversations with Freedom" commissioned in 2015 by cultural solutions UK for festival800.co.uk as part of the Magna Carta 800th anniversary.(Funded by Arts Council England / Lincolnshire County Council)

MOBO and BAFTA award-winning hip-hop artist, writer, poet, historian and lecturer, Akala is a creative powerhouse in ascendance, gaining a reputation as one of the most dynamic literate talents in the world. Akala is known for fusing unique rap/rock/electro-punk sound with fierce lyrical storytelling. Inspired by the likes of Gil Scott-Heron, over the years Akala has headlined 7 UK tours.

For this project, Akala has collaborated with Prash Mistry, a London-based music producer, DJ and keys player in UK bass music group Engine-Earz. Prash has worked on original tracks with artists including Aloe Blacc, Flux Pavilion, Golden Globe winner Lisa Gerrard and Grammy award-winning John Benitez amongst others. Engine Earz’ remix credits include Basement Jaxx, Nitin Sawhney, Meshuggah, ODB, Busta Rhymes, Sean Paul and DJ Shadow ft Little Dragon amongst others.

Prash produced Akala’s seminal track ‘Knowledge Is Power’ back in 2012. Akala also features on Engine-Earz new album "Symbol" forthcoming on Circus Records.

Time Lag

Final Electronic Music project, this is a representation of a busy man boarding a train. He fails to notice a strange bug assaulting him, and contracts a strange ailment from its bite. The man begins to experience aural hallucinations, which alter the sounds that he hears. He encounters the choir of cellphones, and the augmented reality that is the busy city life around him. Finally, he notices the bug and destroys it, ending his dreadful experience. I picked a picture that is the cover of one of my other pieces I composed this year to turn it into a video that I could upload to facebook. I am thinking about putting an actual film to this at some point.

Audial Illusion

A piratey thing. I'm getting better at mastering orchestral music I think. Used X-cita harmonic exciter plugin on some percussion, also some of the instruments are ZynAddSubFX. I would have liked mda ModernExciter better but it doesn't like LMMS for some reason.

I have a suspicion that the kick is maxing out the left channel but I can't isolate it.

This is a 1:1 mashup - the two songs (Oppa Gangnam Style by PSY and Space Jam by Quad City DJs) have the exact same BPM and key, so I had NO CHOICE but to put on the finishing touches.

Once again, for everyone posting about how this could be better and how it sounds like a mess, I seriously can't stress enough that I did not put much effort into this, I originally intended it to be a demo.  So yeah, if I had the master tracks, I would've done some cool stuff so the vocals wouldn't be overlapping like they are.

Justifying shittiness aside, though, I'm really happy that so many of you like it anyway!  If someone wants to try their hand at remaking it better, be my guest, I'll probably listen and enjoy it.  Cheers, Internet!
