Approximately thirty years ago, the music scene went through a significant turning point that forever changed the course of Ambient and Chillout music, courtesy of metal music.

Keith, a drummer with an unwavering love for the genre, embarked on a journey to Germany. It was during this time that the whole "chillout" phenomenon began to emerge. Keith found himself without drums, a band, or a place to practice for many years. Most of the time, he had none of it.

Little did he realize that this would mark the start of something truly extraordinary.

In Germany, Keith joined forces with a band called Afraid of Reality. It all began when Keith, an MP in Wiesbaden, crossed paths with Twist, who served in Aviation in Wiesbaden. One day, Twist happened to hear Keith playing his drums in the barracks. This fateful meeting between Keith and Twist would eventually lead to a collaboration that laid the foundation for the formation of BrainStorm Operations. Without Afraid of Reality, BrainStorm Operations would have never come into existence.

Within the ranks of Afraid of Reality, Keith not only showcased his powerful drumming skills but also revealed his talent as a gifted songwriter.

His remarkable ability to craft captivating lyrics added depth and emotion to their music. Alongside Keith was Twist, an exceptionally skilled guitarist, creating a formidable and unstoppable combination.

The original lineup of Afraid of Reality consisted of a group of exceptional individuals, each bringing their unique talents to the forefront. Alan Sutton, with his distinct style and vocals, breathed life into every track. Chuck Estright and Twist Massey poured their hearts and talents into the guitars, producing electrifying melodies. David Shaffer skillfully held the bass, providing a solid foundation that anchored the band's sound. And, of course, Keith Alban, the founding member, infused their compositions with thunderous beats and heartfelt lyrics.

But the story doesn't end there. To this day, Keith and Twist continue their musical journey as a dynamic duo known as The Beautiful Negative. Throughout the years, they have remained dedicated to creating metal and hard rock music, carrying with them the spirit and energy of the original lineup.

The collaboration between Keith and Twist has left an indelible mark on the metal and hard rock genres. Their unwavering passion and dedication exemplify the profound impact the original lineup had in shaping the music industry. AOR's legacy will continue to inspire generations of metal enthusiasts and pave the way for future artists to forge their own paths in this exhilarating genre. It has already. Some of the "kids" that came to our shows, tour nowadays with HUGE bands. And they stay in touch with Keith and Twist, to this day.
