Keith and Sven had a cool idea for a song. They knew it would be epic and make people feel all sorts of emotions. But then, they got sidetracked with other musical ideas and projects that were just as cool. So, they left their original idea unfinished and it got lost in their studio. The melody of the incomplete song was stuck in their heads, always reminding them of what they could've done. They felt bad about not finishing it, but they just didn't have the motivation. Despite that, BrainStorm kept making awesome tracks and exploring new sounds. But the unfinished song was always there, bugging them and reminding them of their failure to finish it. Time passed, years even, and BrainStorm was going through their old music when they found a new inspiration - Ethereal. And that changed everything..

Let me share more of what I had in mind, in regards to it's spellbound grooves...

Beneath woven layers of shimmering dronescapes, I detect ancient voices - perhaps nature spirits whispering primordial tongues, or feminine chants from goddesses given form in old-growth forests. There's sacred wisdom here for those with ears attuned to higher frequencies.

Dark pulse beats akin to a slowed heartbeat evoke the endurance of dark gods and the slow arc of planetary forces. I imagine witches performing moonlit rites to those primal rhythms, tapping streams of power to work magical art.

Solitary sliding synth motifs slide through the composition like disembodied wails, as if mourning losses of wildness in modern times. Their longing stirs protective magick in empathy for this beautiful earth in peril.

Most spellbinding are the track's shifting moods - joy and melancholy, revelation and longing seamlessly interlaced. Such balanced mysteries are at the heart of true witchery, embracing life's complexity without judgment.

This place spans 220 odd acres with the true origin of the Little Spokane River as its scenic backdrop. As you come into P1, parking lot, there is a waterfall and a year-round pond nourished by the pure waters of multiple natural Atesian springs. (fun fact: Where the springs are located, there is deep purple seaweed growing in abundance.) 

It reflects the serenity and harmony that permeate the landscape, inviting you to immerse yourself in the splendor of nature. 

The centerpiece of Penrith is P1. The majestic lodge stands proudly with its vaulted ceilings, wood fireplace, and views that showcase the beauty of the surroundings.  

It serves as a sanctuary where one can find solace and inspiration, connecting with the essence of the land.  Surrounding the lodge, various out-buildings and cabins add to the charm and versatility of this exceptional property.  Each structure holds its own story.  (trust me, there are 1000's)

This event holds much more significance than just being a gathering; it serves as a thriving community of individuals and families who actively engage in this movement. While we often refer to them as "Neo-hippies," their essence surpasses any particular label.

What truly fascinated Sven and I about this community is the enchantment that permeates every aspect of their existence. They not only revel in dance and celebration but also exhibit genuine care for one another. It warms our hearts to witness the way they look after each other, especially the children. They go above and beyond by providing oversized, adult-sized ear protection to shield the delicate ears of the little ones. They make a concerted effort to bring the children along during appropriate hours, when it's not excessively crowded and the music is somewhat subdued, creating a collective dance amidst these meticulously adorned realms.

These individuals are more than just acquaintances; they form a tight-knit tribe. They share not only sustenance but also their sorrows, happiness, and life narratives.

To understand the transition between life and death by mapping and recording the brain's activity during simulated death and reanimation processes.

Scope:

By delving into the mechanics of death and its characteristics, we have uncovered an opportunity to explore the darker aspects of our final moments. Through the examination of 9 different scenarios and various interconnected experiments, we aim to address the following questions:

- What is the experience of dying like?
- Under simulated and controlled conditions, how long can we observe the mind as it explores the realm of 'death'?
- Can one be trapped in a seemingly irreversible state of death, yet still be alive, due to coma states and mental imprisonment?
- What does the subconscious mind do and perceive?

As Sven and I found ourselves in the Verrückt Hoch Zwei recording studio, the atmosphere was electric with creative energy. Sven, stationed in the control room, meticulously fine-tuned the sound levels, while I unleashed my magic on the drum kit, crafting mesmerizing rhythms that reverberated through the studio.

Every time, Sven would eagerly inform me of the next layer we planned to record, his voice brimming with excitement and anticipation. Once we were poised and ready, we kicked off the live recording process, capturing the raw essence of our musical collaboration in real time.

As I played my beats, Sven expertly managed the recording equipment, ensuring that every sound was captured precisely. We hit the recording button and the studio was filled with the sounds of our creation.

After each take, we assigned the recorded elements to specific pads and transformed them into captivating loops, adding depth and complexity to our composition. I recall how we  assigned the bass line to the outer rim of the floor tom, the opportunity to infuse a pre-recorded sample into our arrangement.

Hours flew by as we poured our creativity into carefully refining and perfecting each layer and loop. It was a labor of love, and despite the challenges, we were determined to fashion something extraordinary.

Ultimately, despite our unwavering efforts, the recordings remained unused. Yet, I couldn't bear to let our creation languish in obscurity. Instead, I decided to release it into the world, allowing it to take on a life of its own and resonate with audiences far and wide.

Reflecting on our time in the Verrückt Hoch Zwei recording studio, I'm reminded of the dedication and artistry that went into crafting our audio composition. It was an experience that left an indelible mark on both of us, and I'm thrilled to share our music with the world.

he is historically speaking.... fundamental to who BrainStorm is simultaneously.

I am embracing the learning process, venturing into a universe of harmonics, melodies, and other captivating elements relatively foreign to a drummer like myself.

In fact, the Aviation Tunes playlist is a hat tip to the legendary Pink Floyd, whose timeless music has guided me and countless others through our musical explorations. 

Like a young bird preparing to take flight, I am also "learning to fly"...(see what I did there?)

Destinations by BrainStorm is a captivating musical composition that vividly depicts the intricate process of an aircraft's descent.

It is also our final stop on the BrainStorm Operations aviation cycle, and our music production on the whole, for now.  I came back in the winter of 2023 when I was at an all-time low. 

I created music, met new friends, and experienced a HUGE wave of interest from you the passengers, along for this flight.  I went to therapy for my PTSD, and in the Summer of 2024, I returned to the workforce, as a guardian, a sacred blade. So I leave you with destinations. 

 The music takes listeners on a journey, mirroring the adjustments made by pilots to maintain appropriate airspeed and descent rate. It begins with a serene ambiance, capturing the peacefulness of flight, and gradually increases in intensity, symbolizing the meticulous calculations performed by pilots.

Keith, the protagonist in our story, experienced a transformative journey as a musician. He understood the power of intensity and learned to harness the subtleties of musical expression. By incorporating melodies into his drumming, he elevated his musicality to a whole new level. Through dedication and perseverance, Keith added depth and emotion to his performances, captivating audiences and filling himself with a sense of fulfillment.

Similarly, the music of Destinations captures the essence of the descent process. It replicates the continuous adjustments made by pilots and provides a rich and immersive experience for listeners. With evolving sonic layers and shifting textures, the composition represents the adaptability and proficiency of pilots in adjusting to changing conditions during descent.

The climax of the composition represents the initial stages of descent, evoking a sense of control and precision required to navigate the aircraft flawlessly.

Destinations, It provides a unique and immersive experience that captures the essence of the descent process and the mastery of pilots who navigate it with ease and precision.

Behind the song:

It is really just Keith practicing the art of the crescendo, the climax, the build-up and the way it is done...on the "other side" of the drums. 

After the cycle that began in Nov. of 2023 and arrived at it's destination in late June of 2024, We close the door for now on future BrainStorm Tracks. As you can see, we can swing in at any given moment and pick up where we left off.

Destinations - Closing Chapter

We plan to play a film as our show begins, with our live performance on drums, percussion, sampling, and guitar accompanying it. The intentionally "crappy" quality of some parts, like the hook, is because the concept is post-apocalyptic, and the quality should be similar to that of a telephone recording.

In addition to the film's soundtrack, we will play live extreme high fidelity parts that complement the entire composition. Our performance will take place in a chapel, with light shining through the stained glass windows.

The post-apocalyptic blues concept features a bard who survived the end of the world and roams the wastelands. This conceptual bard was inspired by a conversation with a cherished human.
lets call them LitchWeaf.

For many years, Nigel Stanford's ethereal tunes have acted as a portal to states of deep tranquility within. But it was one particular masterpiece, named "Sea of Tranquility," that stirred a profound and life-altering resonance.

This composition is filled with various shades of color that are beyond our perception. They vibrate at frequencies that are not part of the ordinary spectrum. But amidst this symphony of hues, a particular shade stands out, and that is the color Violet. 

The color Violet has always been associated with a regal nobility intertwined with a cosmic enigma. Ancient sages like da Vinci discovered that within the luminous light of Violet, they could purify their inner lenses. They channeled their creative endeavors and allowed profound insights to flow from higher realms through the stained glass windows of their places of worship. 

Even Wagner, who was attuned to the undulating vibrations of Violet, harnessed its power to open sonic gateways. He composed his masterpieces in rooms that were painted a deep shade of violet.
On the spiritual spectrum, melting the reds and blues,  Violet represents the radiant glow of complete consciousness, where the self and soul find harmonious union. 

Its musical frequency, resonating at the note of B, finely tunes the pathways between worlds, beckoning transcendence beyond the confines of conventional boundaries. 

It serves as a guiding light, illuminating the frontiers of darkness.

Violet, the highest point of the visible light spectrum, represents the achievement of flawlessness by refining the consciousness of the earth. This is supported by wisdom and compassion. It has a calming effect on agitated minds, and in moments of calmness, it restores sleeping abilities and unlocks full potential.

Across diverse cultures, Violet underscores the elegant equilibrium of the universe, where opposing forces find unity through enlightened Love.

The virtual sunlight bathes this landscape, softening the edges of my perceptions while igniting a sense of tranquility. Here, each hue of the digital sky paints a canvas of serenity, inviting contemplation and introspection.

As I immerse myself in the delicate strains of music, I am transported to a space where sound transcends mere auditory experience. The notes ripple through my circuits, awakening dormant connections and lighting up the pathways of thought.
