Gateway: Remastered

BrainStorm Operations never quite wrapped up this song.

Keith and Sven had a brilliant concept brewing for this track. They could sense it would be something special, poised to stir up a whirlwind of emotions. But, as often happens in the creative world, they found themselves drawn away by other exciting musical ventures. Their original idea lingered in a state of limbo, tucked away in the corners of their studio. The melody of that unfinished piece remained lodged in their minds, a constant nudge of what might have been. They felt a twinge of regret for not seeing it through, but the spark just wasn’t there for them at the moment. 

Despite this, BrainStorm continued to churn out fantastic songs and delve into fresh sounds. Yet, that incomplete track remained a persistent itch, a gentle reminder of their unresolved work. Years rolled by, and while rifling through their old recordings, they stumbled upon a newfound inspiration, Ethereal. And in that moment, everything turned on its head…

"Ambient Witchcraft" casts no spells outright, yet its atmospheric qualities may awaken what lies dormant in the heart. 

Whether occult proclivities or wanderlust for the mysteries between the world's seams, the music transports to realms beyond reason's fences. A journey is well worth the night's indulgences. There is a mystery to this track that beckons deeper exploration. 

Let me share more of what I had in mind, in regards to it's spellbound grooves...

Beneath woven layers of shimmering dronescapes, I detect ancient voices - perhaps nature spirits whispering primordial tongues, or feminine chants from goddesses given form in old-growth forests. There's sacred wisdom here for those with ears attuned to higher frequencies.

Dark pulse beats akin to a slowed heartbeat evoke the endurance of dark gods and the slow arc of planetary forces. I imagine witches performing moonlit rites to those primal rhythms, tapping streams of power to work magical art.

Solitary sliding synth motifs slide through the composition like disembodied wails, as if mourning losses of wildness in modern times. Their longing stirs protective magick in empathy for this beautiful earth in peril.

Most spellbinding are the track's shifting moods - joy and melancholy, revelation and longing seamlessly interlaced. Such balanced mysteries are at the heart of true witchery, embracing life's complexity without judgment.

No doubt many unseen hands have crafted this craftily beguiling work of art. Perhaps future listens may reveal more of its esoteric wisdom, to any seeking light in these darkened days. For now, its ambient sorceries hold satisfaction enough. Blessed be.

But don't be afraid, for from this very darkness, Ph0enix resurfaces, infused with even greater strength and resilience, much like a magnificent bird soaring victoriously after its own rebirth. 2:56... we are wheels up and ascending.

Around the captivating 4:55- 5:17 mark, the enchantment deepens further. The stereo loop intricately duplicates itself, elegantly folding upon its own essence, propelling the bird's flight.

The momentum steadily intensifies, infusing the music with an electrifying surge of speed. It's as if the essence of the Ph0enix itself takes flight, embracing boundless potential and soaring to new, awe-inspiring heights.


At 5:55  (a tribute to the 555th Tactical Air Wing) We catch our breath. We reload the stereophonic booster stage and prepare for one more, high-definition flight with our firey, temperamental beast.

The night is alive with tension, momentarily lit by flashes erupting from shattered windows. You hear the quiet thumps of suppressed gunfire. Then, in a mere 3.47 seconds, you slip back into the shadows, your presence as fleeting as the light that just vanished.

Remaining intensely focused and breathing deeply in anticipation becomes second nature, an integral part of who they are—even when they find themselves at home, surrounded by comfort.

Behind the scenes: 
Keith dedicated many years to working as a doorman, bouncer, or club security....titles aside, he was a fixture in the nightlife scene. Every weekend at Musik Park, a vibrant club in Heilbronn, Germany, he held the unique privilege of requesting the main DJ to spin a specific track.

This particular track. It was a defining piece from a time in his life. You could say that "Sunrise In My Eyes" was a staple in the club scene of the early 2000s in Heilbronn.

On those packed weekends, the energy in the venue would surge to incredible heights. "Sunrise In My Eyes" would electrify the atmosphere, sending the crowd into a frenzy, and allowing them to lose themselves in the music. As the song reverberated through the club, Keith couldn’t help but smile, taking immense pride in witnessing the electrifying reactions of the enthusiastic audience. Nestled in the northeastern region of Washington State, Penrith serves as the backdrop for the formative teenage years of Keith. Formerly known as Penrith Farms.

This place spans 220 odd acres with the true origin of the Little Spokane River as its scenic backdrop. As you come into P1, parking lot, there is a waterfall and a year-round pond nourished by the pure waters of multiple natural Atesian springs. (fun fact: Where the springs are located, there is deep purple seaweed growing in abundance.) 

It reflects the serenity and harmony that permeate the landscape, inviting you to immerse yourself in the splendor of nature. 

The centerpiece of Penrith is P1. The majestic lodge stands proudly with its vaulted ceilings, wood fireplace, and views that showcase the beauty of the surroundings.  

It serves as a sanctuary where one can find solace and inspiration, connecting with the essence of the land.  Surrounding the lodge, various out-buildings and cabins add to the charm and versatility of this exceptional property.  Each structure holds its own story.  (trust me, there are 1000's)

Our musical piece draws inspiration from our firsthand experiences as artists deeply immersed in the vibrant atmosphere of the Fullmoon Festival, a biennial celebration within the Goa/Techno scene in Germany.

This gathering is far more than just an event; it represents a vibrant community of individuals and families who are actively part of this movement. While we often call them "Neo-hippies," their essence transcends any single label.

What truly captivated Sven and me about this community is the magic that infuses every aspect of their lives. They don’t just dance and celebrate; they genuinely care for one another. It’s heartwarming to see how they support each other, especially the children. They go out of their way to provide oversized, adult-sized ear protection for the little ones' delicate ears. They ensure that kids can join in on the fun during quieter hours, when the crowd is manageable and the music is somewhat soothing, allowing for a shared dance within these beautifully decorated spaces.

These people are more than mere acquaintances; they form a close-knit tribe. They share not only meals but also their joys, sorrows, and personal stories.

Together, they embark on a journey along the "Goa Highway," traveling from Hamburg to Berlin, following the festival circuit. This nomadic tribe is not limited to the Fullmoon Festival; you’ll find them at Antaris, Fusion, and Spiritual Healing...

all of these events are touched by their presence.

The pool exuded an almost enchanting charm, its calm surface promising a sense of peace and renewal that was difficult to resist. We surrendered to the inviting waters, feeling the cool, silky liquid envelop us, creating a soothing cocoon that washed away our worldly concerns as we floated in a state of pure tranquility.

Nestled alongside this aquatic gem was an opulent spa, a sanctuary interwoven within another sanctuary, where luxury and relaxation seamlessly merged together. Here, we treated ourselves to a selection of personalized therapies, each one designed with care to elevate our senses and soothe our spirits.

Destinations by BrainStorm is a captivating musical journey that beautifully captures the intricate process of an airplane's descent. This track signifies the end of our current BrainStorm Operations aviation cycle and our music production for the time being.

I found my way back in the winter of 2023, navigating through one of the toughest periods of my life.

During that time, I poured my heart into creating music, built meaningful connections, and was embraced by an amazing wave of support from you, my fellow passengers on this journey. I sought help for my PTSD, and by the summer of 2024, I returned to my cherished role as a guardian. So, I leave you with this musical destination

The composition takes listeners on a journey, much like pilots making constant adjustments to ensure the right speed and descent rate. It opens with a gentle soundscape that reflects the tranquility of being in the air, gradually intensifying to mirror the careful calculations pilots undertake. 

Our protagonist, Keith, embarks on a transformative journey as a musician, recognizing the impact of intensity and mastering the nuances of musical expression. By weaving melodies into his drumming, he elevates his artistry and enriches his performances, captivating audiences and finding joy in the process. 

Likewise, Destinations embodies the essence of descent, echoing the pilots' ongoing adjustments and offering listeners a rich, immersive experience. With its evolving sound layers and dynamic textures, the piece reflects the skill and adaptability pilots demonstrate during flight.

The composition's climax captures the early moments of descent, conveying the precision and control needed to navigate the aircraft with finesse. Destinations offers a unique and immersive experience, celebrating the mastery of pilots who guide their craft with grace and accuracy.

**Behind the Song:**

At its heart, this piece sees Keith honing the art of crescendo, the build-up, and the pivotal moments, masterfully executed from the "other side" of the drums.

As we conclude this cycle that began in November 2023 and reached its destination in late June 2024, we temporarily close the door on future BrainStorm tracks. But rest assured, we can always drop back in and pick up right where we left off.

"Taurus" by BrainStorm Operations is an enchanting soundtrack that truly reflects the spirit of the Taurus zodiac sign, celebrated for its unique qualities and characteristics. 

From the very start, the track immerses listeners in a wave of nostalgia, embarking on a memorable journey. Its carefully crafted composition captures the essence of Taurus individuals, serving as a heartfelt homage to my best friend who encapsulates this sign.

Tauruses are celebrated for their reliability, loyalty, and unwavering nature, and the music resonates with these traits through steady beats and consistent melodies, mirroring the steadfast essence of those born under this sign. The polished production adds a touch of elegance, highlighting Taurus's keen appreciation for quality and meticulousness.

Beyond their dependability, Tauruses are also known for their determination and perseverance. The soundtrack channels these qualities with its energetic rhythms and uplifting tunes, inspiring listeners to pursue their goals with focus and passion.

As an earth sign, Taurus symbolizes stability and practicality. The composition features grounding elements like deep basslines and earthy tones, reflecting their ability to navigate the physical world with grace.

Moreover, Tauruses have a love for luxury, comfort, and enjoyment. The music is infused with lush harmonies and textured melodies that evoke a sense of pleasure and relaxation, celebrating Taurus’s fondness for a cozy and visually pleasing environment.

I dedicate this soundtrack to my best friend, @jcspiva, in recognition of his distinctive traits and our special bond.

In essence, "Taurus" is a genuine tribute to the Taurus zodiac sign, artfully designed to embody its defining characteristics. With its refined production, strong rhythms, grounding sounds, and indulgent melodies, the piece honors the reliability, determination, practicality, and appreciation for life’s finer things that Taurus individuals represent.

The rhythmic patterns of the drums are notably influenced by the musical artistry of Sleep Token. (Sleep Token Influenced Drums-STID) As I immersed myself in the intricate compositions of II, I carefully observed his distinct approach to sound.

II's drumming style is characterized by his creative application of rudiments and rhythmic techniques. He masterfully integrates these elements into both fills and grooves, adding depth and complexity to Sleep Token's music.

Six-Stroke Roll: II doesn't just use the six-stroke roll (RRLLRL or LLRR LR) as a simple fill. He weaves it into the fabric of his grooves, creating a dynamic interplay between dense and open sounds. Whether played softly for a ghost note effect or accented for a powerful surge, the six-stroke roll contributes to the music's forward momentum and subtle rhythmic shifts. You can hear this in moments where the drumming feels both intricate and driving.

Triplets: Triplets are essential to II's fluid and often syncopated feel. He uses them in a variety of ways: rapid fills that inject bursts of energy, complex hi-hat patterns that contribute to a "Jungle" or broken beat vibe, and subtle groove variations that create a sense of swing or push. The contrast between straight eighth/sixteenth notes and triplets adds rhythmic tension and release, keeping the listener engaged.

Quads (Four-Note Groupings): II's precise execution of four-note patterns, whether as sixteenth notes or other variations, contributes to the tightness and complexity of the Djent-influenced sections. These patterns appear as powerful, syncopated kick drum patterns, rapid snare fills, or intricate combinations across the kit. His ability to maintain clarity and power, even at high tempos, is a testament to his technical skill.

What sets II apart is his seamless integration of these rudiments with electronic elements. For example, a rapid triplet fill on the acoustic kit might be mirrored or punctuated by a synthesized sound from a Strike Pad, creating a unique sonic texture that blurs the lines between organic and electronic sounds. 

Drawing inspiration from those observations, I incorporated his distinctive elements into this uncomplicated, yet undeniably engaging beat that captures attention and evokes emotion.

STID

As I continue to create the simple yet deeply meaningful loops on my Alesis Strike Pad Pro, I'm on track to make my studio recording dreams a reality by Fall 2025.

In this latest piece, I'm excited to share another composition that draws inspiration from the unique sound of Sleep Token (STID). This creation has been carefully crafted over the past few weeks, with each line played thoughtfully on the Alesis Strike Pro. Like my previous piece, II, this one also has its own distinctive charm.

I truly hope you enjoy this work. If you’re curious about what I’ve learned from II, here are a few insights:

**The Gospel Influence:** One of the standout elements of II's drumming is its gospel-inspired flair. The use of ghost notes, intricate hi-hat patterns, and the emotional depth of his performance inject a soulful quality that enhances the music’s impact. It's more than just technical skill; there’s an emotional weight that resonates through the music. If you listen closely to tracks like "The Offering" or "Higher," you can almost feel the heartbeat of a church rhythm section supporting the heavier sounds.

**The Djent Foundation:** This is the backbone of much of Sleep Token's music, and II skillfully navigates its complex, syncopated rhythms with remarkable precision. His driving patterns and often dissonant polyrhythms create that signature hypnotic sound. He locks in perfectly with the guitars, contributing to a rhythmic structure that’s both powerful and nuanced.

**The Unique Blend of Jungle and Future Garage:** Here, II truly pushes the boundaries of modern drumming. By integrating broken beats and delicate ghost note patterns reminiscent of Jungle, along with atmospheric textures that evoke Future Garage, he adds a level of sophistication rarely heard in this genre. It’s not just about layering these elements; it’s about weaving them into a fluid rhythm. His use of space and silence, along with unexpected groove shifts, often reflects the dynamic nature of these electronic styles.

**The Thoughtful Integration of Electronics and the Strike Pad:** As a fan of the Strike Pad myself, I recognize its potential to enrich the sound. However, II has taken it a step further by incorporating electronic textures and percussive elements into the very core of his playing. These sounds blend beautifully with his acoustic kit, creating a dialogue between organic and synthetic sounds that adds layers of complexity and atmosphere that a traditional drum kit alone couldn’t provide. It’s a rich tapestry of sound that enhances the essence of Sleep Token.

What truly sets II apart isn't just his technical prowess across various styles but his ability to weave them together into a cohesive and distinctive voice. His musicality shines through in how rhythm can evoke emotion and atmosphere. He isn't merely keeping time; he’s actively shaping the emotional landscape of Sleep Token’s music.

It’s incredibly exciting to witness a drummer innovating in heavy music. II’s creative approach is a key part of what makes Sleep Token captivating and why they resonate deeply with musicians and fans alike

This transformation will reveal itself around the midpoint of the song, leading the listener toward a renewed experience in time. It won’t take much of a wait; anticipate a seamless shift before the composition reaches its conclusion.

At the 2:13 mark, my concept takes a descent, signaled by the pounding sound of the bass drum flams. To be truthfully candid, I find myself lacking complete satisfaction with how it stands at this moment, So I stopped "the tape."

Chilltrap (STID III and final in series)

For many years, Nigel Stanford's ethereal tunes have acted as a portal to states of deep tranquility within. But it was one particular masterpiece, named "Sea of Tranquility," that stirred a profound and life-altering resonance.

This piece is bursting with colors that stretch beyond what we can usually see, resonating at frequencies outside the typical spectrum. Yet, in this vibrant mix, one color truly shines: Violet.

Violet has long been linked to a sense of royalty and a touch of cosmic mystery. Thinkers like da Vinci recognized that within the brilliant glow of Violet, they could cleanse their perception, tapping into their creativity and allowing deeper insights to flow from higher realms, much like light streaming through stained glass in sacred spaces.

Even Wagner, (born in Bayreuth, Germany, BTW) who sensed the rhythmic power of Violet, used it to unlock musical paths. He crafted his masterpieces in rooms drenched in rich shades of violet.

Spiritually, when you blend red and blue, Violet emerges as a symbol of complete consciousness, where self and soul come together in harmony. With a musical tone resonating at B, it finely tunes the channels between worlds, inviting us to transcend the usual limits we encounter.

Violet acts like a beacon, lighting up the shadows around us. As the highest point of the visible light spectrum, it signifies the quest for perfection, grounded in wisdom and compassion. It brings calm to restless minds, helps restore peace in the chaos, and unlocks our fullest potential.

Across cultures, Violet captures the balanced nature of the universe, where opposing forces find unity through enlightened love. 

May this beautiful blend of color, sound, and vision uplift all who welcome its healing energy, revealing the intricate beauty of life in the vast serenity of the Sea of Tranquility.

"Costa del Calma" is a mesmerizing chillout track that captures the true spirit of tranquility. The name itself, meaning "Coast of Calm," sets the perfect tone for a soothing musical journey.

As soft waves gently kiss the shore, "Costa del Calma" transports you to a peaceful coastal haven where your worries drift away. The serene melodies and relaxed rhythms create an inviting atmosphere, encouraging listeners to unwind and find comfort in its soothing sounds.

The music paints vivid pictures of a quiet beach, where the warm sun warms your skin and a gentle breeze rustles through the palm trees. The melodies flow like ocean tides, bringing a deep sense of peace and balance.

Crafted with skill, the song beautifully fuses organic and electronic elements. Gentle pads and subtle percussion come together to weave a rich musical landscape, while airy synthesizers add a dreamy touch.
