Much of Fast Castle is still shrouded in pixelated darkness. This first release offers a glimpse on what this weird-world might shed light on next: From polyrhythmic bass & drum flexing, to dubstep-not-dubstep exercises in sound system science and past-midnight gaze music, our map is expansive and full of surprises.

The essence of countless hours spent soul searching & synapse twisting in the confines of our studio shed in Berlin’s outer ring territories, „Unique Technologies“ is the first building block of our humble castle. Cut to thick rotating discs for maximum bass range response and housed in a printed sleeve, FC01 is strictly limited to two hundred copies. Soreab returns to Control Freak for a full length white label release - a masterclass in organic, dubbed-out, dancefloor psychedelia, featuring live recordings by sound artist and modular percussionist Cinna Peyghamy, following a recent collaboration with Azu Tiwaline. 

As a DJ, producer and co-founder of Baroque Sunburst, Italian-born Soreab has been a mainstay of London’s underground electronic music scene for over 5 years. On ‘Teleportation’, he manipulates and twists Cinna’s deft percussion work into a distinct range of UK styles, ranging from 170bpm euphoria to subby, half-time explorations from the school of FWD and Plastic People. 

On the B2, Jay Duncan (Phantasy Sound / Intergraded) takes a decidedly minimal tack with her remix of ‘Untitled 1’, with deep, dubby chord stabs and immersive rhythms for late night dancefloor revelations.

Following this year’s VA ‘Marmo’, a collaborative offering co-released with XCPT, Baroque Sunburst releases its first Various Artists EP. Tracks from Taro, Pugilist, Slacker and Flørist, creates a statement record championing subtle yet hybrid club-oriented sounds. 

Taro ignites the white label 12" with ‘Gas Burn’, a dreamy, rarified IDM zipper. An off-kilter UK funky remix from Flørist follows (his second appearance on the imprint after 2020's Intermedia 1 EP). The B side drags us into a half-time, downtempo sideroom, with tracks from Slacker (Aqueduct) and Pugilist (Symbiosis) slowing pace but maintaining intensity.

Days seemed to pass by in a blur; they no longer knew what date the calendar showed or what time the clock struck each hour. They extracted fragmented voices from the haze; noticed a change of light in the room; an all engulfing silence slowly taking over, but life was now indistinguishable from dreams and imagination. Like a series of over exposed photos left to wither and fade in a drawer or the fuzzy static that flickered on the TV, they were hovering high above, no longer playing a role in their own life, only watching it play out from the darkness...

London's Control Freak Recordings have got a debut outing on their hands for their first release of 2023. It comes courtesy of Memory Play, the guise of Dialogue co-founder and one half of production and live duo ASYTRYD, Jo Kašpar. The first of two EPs (the second of which will be landing later this year on the label), these three rich techno mutations give us a window into Jo's skilled and meticulous approach to sound designs. Generated on his hardware set up and honed during a three month residency, the music begins his journey into a more personal and conceptual sphere, where he can express himself freely and use performance as a 'method of healing'.

Having focused on expanding the innovative scope of Livity through a prolific release schedule, frequent label nights and the 10th anniversary Molten Mirrors compilation, on the 'Pulse E.P.', Pev delivers on his reputation for inventive, sharply-focused club music with four lean, focused club tracks across the tempo range.

From the crooked formation and pointillist bleeps of ‘Pulse I’ through the light-footed percussion and airy melodies of ‘Pulse II’ to ‘Pulse III’s strafing techno synths and ‘Pulse IV’s surefooted, bass-loaded house jack, it’s an EP of variation and consistency in equal measure. From the infectious, alien melodic lines to the elegant angles of the drums, not to mention the weighty subs, it’s all strikingly fresh and unmistakably Pev.
