Following on from Wally Lopez’s original, German-born, US-based artist Nhii takes the raw materials and adds his own distinctive twist. 

“It was a true honor to remix a track by the legendary Wally Lopez. From the very first listen, I felt inspired to reinterpret the original by morphing its melodic elements into a more percussive framework, giving the track a fresh rhythmic direction,” Nhii explains.

Stunning start of the Heldeep DJ Tools EP series. Part 1 features none less than three blazing house tunes, kicking off with Billy Kenny & Aaron Jackson dropping a vocally charged groove where cool effects and twisted bass sounds take you to the deep end of the floor. 

Speaking of Bass with a capital B, track two on this EP is delivered by Dutch DJ Bart B More, dropping catchy break beats over straight up house music, heavy on the bass and building one climax above the other - you’ll be going Down with this! Following this rollercoaster it’s Kyle Watson feat. Pop Art taking things deeper again, with a subtle groove, delayed effects and mesmerizing vocal breakdown. It’s a brilliant deep house tune, just like this full EP says a lot on all the sounds where dance music is going - Heldeep showing you where it’s at!

Heldeep DJ Tools EP Part 1 will be out on February 29.

Some birds fly South for the winter, especially with this cold snap going on right now! After three unbelievable years of the Dirtybird Campout at our West Coast home, we’re taking the show to Florida with our biggest lineup yet.

For the cross-country journey, we packed 8 brand new tracks in the Dirtybird Campout East Coast Compilation from several of the artists that will be playing the Birdhouse stage during the weekend.

The compilation leads off with a cover of the classic Brazilian internet meme by MP4 in 2000, “Books Is On The Table”, most recently covered by Marshall Applewhite. This bumpy new cover takes us back to Brazil - Home of Bruno Furlan with help from Claude VonStroke on the production. Nick Monaco gives us some “Drama”, and we welcome Justin Jay back with his bouncy single “Oii Oii Oiiii”. Maximono’s “No Joke” is literally that, and BOT reminds us that “Different is Beautiful”. Vangelis Kostoxenakis provides the “Monkey Business”, and Dateless and his brother Lucati show us it’s all about “Team Work”. Dimiz & Baley’s “Raw Motion” was the track Claude dropped during the Family Set, and we couldn’t wait any longer to get this heater out.

Is it the sunshine, is it the lifestyle, do they put something in the water or could it be the legalised weed? Were trying to figure out how some Californian producers are so damn fresh.

Take super fresh 27 year old Californian “Lucati” for example, he dropped such a huge banger in the form of “Poderoso” on Litterbox 04, we just had to to found out what the secret ingredients are. When we asked Lucati what makes Californian producers so fresh, he didn’t know how to answer, he just makes music all day everyday so expects that has something to do with it. Were pretty sure he’s hiding something from us…….

Anyhoo, whilst were searching for the secret of the funk we give you Lucati’s superbly crafted debut EP “Hunger Capitol” on Box of Cats.

The title track is super funky with dope beats and a rolling baseline driving through the bars, you also get the occasional subtle hint of a flirtation with the old school.

The B side “Bat Country” co-produced with fellow Californian “OMNOM” taps into a more bizarre vibe which results in a totally trippy banger. Vibes all-round.
