Brooklyn's Breakdown Brass dropped yet another killer 45! They've unleashed an original juggernaut entitled "Harrow", a follow-up to their smash debut 45 "Monmouth b/w Next Episode" (Kept Records) and sophomore 45 "The Horseman b/w Mary Jane" (Mixto Music). Driving, dirty horns are punctuated by intense trombone and baritone sax solos - prepare your stank face.

The B-side "Nautilus (Hijacked)" is a dance-floor burner that pays homage to Bob James, whose track Nautilus has been heavily sampled by Slick Rick, Eric B & Rakim, Run-DMC, A Tribe Called Quest, Onyx, Wu Tang Clan, Big L, Pete Rock and about 300 others. Throw in some Herbie Mann/Beatnuts and you got yourself a hit!

The members of Breakdown Brass stay busy - touring and recording with Ikebe Shakedown, Antibalas, Lee Fields, Sharon Jones, Charles Bradley, Monophonics and many others. Led by Nadav Nirenberg on trombone, their unique combination of heavy Afro-Funk with the sizzle of Balkan Brass has caught the eye of Gilles Peterson, NPR, BBC and more.

'Bungle's Twanger' really captures the essence of the band's roots... a full-on in-your-face stampede of Hammond, bass, drums, guitar and clav that is just short enough to sit perfectly in the sweet spot of the 7", but long enough to raise your adrenalin levels and make you want to immediately take it for a second spin! The Getup - Bungles Twanger

As soon as that guitar kicks in on the A side we know we're on The Getup's high energy home turf and, sure enough, what follows is a three and half minute 100mph horn laden ride thru Hammond Funk Mayhem. Sabina’s vocals take the track into that female funk territory that keeps all the girls on the dancefloor.

This is a nod to early 80’s hip hop cut n paste production,  a dirtier mix for the funk heads. Stephen Fleg aka DJ Fleg is a DJ, Bboy and producer from Maryland, U.S.A. His constant digging for new sounds in every genre allow Fleg’s style to incorporate old classics, new productions, jazz, funk, rock and soul all into one cohesive DJ stew. In addition to DJing, he also throws Baltimore’s most noted party, “4 Hours of Funk”. He has been organizing Baltimore’s most noted party, “4 Hours of Funk and throwing this for 4 years and has shared the stage with Dam Funk, Onra, Busy Bee, The Cold Crush Brothers, Grand Wizard Theodore, Teddy Douglas, and Kon. 

K. Sabroso - Revenge Is A Dish Best Served Funky (Fleg Remix)

This is a masterful piece of b-boy magic. Arranged and produced like a funk track from the 70’s, this is not your straight looped beats for the average b-boy. This builds and grooves in a way that only a dancer would know about. K. Sabroso began his musical journey on the dance floor, studying the science of beats and breaks while earning his stripes as a b-boy. In 2009 Sandoval decided to focus his attention on music, both as a DJ and producer. With musical influences across the board, he has explored countless genres including Dancehall, Latin Alternative, Downtempo, Trip-Hop, House, Glitch, Jungle, Trap, and Jazz... but he never wanders far from the breakbeats that fuel him as both a dancer and frequent Dj of breaking battles. 

K. Sabroso - Revenge Is A Dish Best Served Funky

Breakin' Bread is a Funk & Hip Hop Collective, based in South London. The Collective runs a Record Label, Clubnight and various Radio Shows. The Record Label has been active since 1999 and specialises in the funk and hip hop that surrounds the scene. With B-Boying, Turntablism, MCing and Graffiti, the Clubnight is funk fuelled mayhem.
