What Lies Beneath

We all wear masks, some to fit in, some to stay safe, and some because we’ve forgotten who we were without them.

“The Chameleon” is a metaphor for the quiet contortions we make to survive, at work, in public, even with family. It’s about the person who adapts so well, they lose sight of their own reflection. The one who paints on a smile to avoid questions, and fades into the background to avoid the truth.

But it’s not judgment, it’s a confession.

This song speaks to the cost of constant camouflage. It asks: what happens when you change your color so often, you no longer know what your true shade ever was?

It’s a reminder that staying hidden may be an art, but it’s also a lonely one.

Multi-platinum band BREAKING BENJAMIN announced their new album, Aurora, will release on January 24, 2020. Aurora features reimagined versions of the band’s biggest and most popular songs with special guests including Lacey Sturm (ex-Flyleaf), Scooter Ward (Cold) and Spencer Chamberlain (Underoath), to name a few. Speaking about Aurora, BREAKING BENJAMIN’s founder/frontman, Ben Burnley, had this personal message to share: "This album is a celebration of our incredible fans; for those who have been there since hearing ‘So Cold’ for the first time in 2004, and the new ones who have joined us on this amazing journey along the way. BREAKING BENJAMIN who recently wrapped their hugely successful North American summer tour with Chevelle, Three Days Grace, Dorothy and Diamante, also announced their upcoming co-headline tour with Korn.  Produced by Live Nation, the 24-city outing kicks off January 23, 2020, and will include stops in Columbus, Green Bay, Portland and more before wrapping March 1st.
