Michael Drayton (1563–1631) was an English poet renowned for his prolific output and innovative verse. Born in the village of Hartshill near Nuneaton, Warwickshire, Drayton was a contemporary of William Shakespeare and is known for his contributions to the sonnet form and narrative poetry.
