Break New Soil continue their immensely successful Breaking New Soil series with volume number six, a four track collection featuring new music from, Maxime Dangles, Dosem & Supernova, Per Hammer and Kernel Key. 

The label's latest gathering of nations sees two label debuts and the return of some our favourite artists. "All of the tracks featured on this collection, as with all of the previous volumes, have been mainstays of my current DJ sets" says label boss Gregor Tresher. The first of the newbies is France's Maxime Dangles with 'Lyoc'. "This track has been my secret weapon for the last few weeks. Absolutely smashing it each and every time I play it" says Gregor. 

Label fav Dosem, fresh from the successful release of his new artist album, teams up with fellow countryman, Supanova, on yet another melodic, peak-time smash, 'The Good Way.' A fan of Kernel Key's music, Tresher is happy to welcome him aboard with, 'Init', a track that, he says, displays the Italian producer's "signature grooves" and one that has become a staple in his DJ sets. Last but by no means least, Per Hammer follows up his collab with Patrick Siech from a few months back, with his very own solo funky tech-house number, 'Ogaden.'

It's Boxer's birthday, and how else does a label celebrate 10 amazing years, than with (ta- daaa), a compilation? Sure, the well-worn protocol for this kind of release involves nothing less than a Double-CD of greatest hits thrown together with a few half-finished sketches or jams, but to be honest: who needs it besides those three and a half CD buyers who excitedly roll around the floor when someone lifts the rock under which they're living? We're happy to remind you that Boxer truly is different, a well-known fact since Dusty Kid's stylized road movie antics or the "Different"-sampler, that officially wore its heart on the sleeve. More a favorite mix tape than a Best-Of-Everything, this full-length compilation doesn't tell you much about the label's back catalogue or sales figures, but keeps things surprisingly focused within its eleven tracks although it sports a bewildering variety of styles with each artist thinking outside the box. Already the first track, a dreamy, draft-like experience from the mind of Stephan Hinz, leaves a lot to the imagination, thus installing the frame for things to come: everyhing is possible. Kolombo and Von Spar both prowl the same funky hunting grounds, but present divergent results, which nevertheless communicate very well when put to the test. Grade A grooves await the listener with Popnoname, tOMBo feat. Schad Privat and Paul Nazca, who all find new perspectives on the sound you'd expect from them. Especially the latter goes into full morphing mode with a second track that ingeniously brushes his own formula against the grain. Let's not forget the not-so-secret centerpiece of this album, its heart and soul, Scalde's inspired ballad "We Drive Away". This song replaces the usual rave climax with a perfectly balanced, humanist flow full of wisdom and romanticism, informing the follow-up track by Le Dust Sucker in the most drastic way. Whereas this powerful production duo has become known for their furor, they crank up the serenity with "Everybody Used To", delivering a perfectly formed pop gem. The same can be said about Robag Wruhme and Extrawelt, whose production skills reach dizzying heights with their contributions, upgrading the floor with broken beats and epic harmonies in the most convincing manner. In the end it's mostly the unconditional love for details and the dramaturgical subtlety that gives "10 Years Of Boxer" its coherence, thus saying more about the quality of a label than a thousand Best-Of-All-You-Can-Hear derivatives this industry is usually churning out in a matter of seconds. In one word: it's the personality that truly speaks to the listener.

Maxime Dangles is a key new artist in the French avant-garde electronic music community, creating waves around the globe with his unabashed approach to proper club techno music. Last year, Santé was a highlight on John Digweed's Structures Two album and the subsequent 4-track Modulation EP further showed that Maxime Dangles is an artist buzzing with creative intention. Now, he returns to Bedrock in the summer of 2012 with the stunning 5-track Hold Up EP.

From the intense, swirling, spiralling climaxes of the title track; through the mind-bending, warped energy of Jarten; the glorious nagging hook of My Boo; Spagetjack’s nod to Giorgio Moroder; to the distorted Detroit attitude of Transparence, this is an EP bursting with hypnotic melodic swing and well-timed hands-in-the-air moments. With such an exciting musical palette to play with, Maxime Dangles cannot fail to impress even the most tired of ears.

Born in 1985, Maxime discovered the world of nightclubbing at a very young age. He quickly became an excellent DJ but crucially also learnt how to create his own music. In 2004, he started to work on remixes and edits before developing his own musical imprint, which led to releasing tracks with the famous Kompakt label in 2006. Remixes of Scan X, Miss Kittin & The Hacker, Simian Mobile Disco, Royksopp, Moby etc have followed. Maxime has recently developed a live show and his energy and passion are now making him a rising star of the international scene.

Opening with the Vangelis inspired Present Voyage then weaving a path through gritty throbbing bass, exemplified by Arrival and on to minimized funk of Disco Diva and Need House, Sonic Intervention progresses naturally on through the swirling tension of Get Up and crescendos with the combination of floor-burner NZT and the old-school Electro stomping Electric Pandemic; featuring the vocals of Detroit Grand Pubas Paris Du Black Fu. When quizzed on his motivations behind his latest studio album, The Advent stated I wanted to do something quite personal for this first album and delve a little bit into the past to get inspiration from my influences to make an album that reflected all the musical genres I have been inspired by over the years electro, electronica, tech house - not just the techno tracks. Future music from a past master, made for the here and now.

The Jokers Of The Scene one-two punch continues with the release of J0T5 RMXD. It’s a companion piece to last week’s J0T5 EP, and features the sterling remix work of some of electronic music’s finest: Daniel Avery (aka Stopmakingme), Shadow Dancer (BNR), Hrdvsion (Wagon Repair), Savile & Olin, Cosmic Kids (Throne Of Blood), Gingy & Bordello (Turbo) and Babe Rainbow (Warp).
