In February 2018 I travelled to Australia for the first time, where I met a sweet soul, a fellow musical traveller, by the name of Amir Paiss. Amir plays the Persian santur and he was co- founder of the internationally acclaimed Hebrew-Arab world music ensemble SHEVA.
Amir and I played an impromptu evening of music together at a house concert in Byron, then a few days later we decided to meet late at night to make an outdoor recording, taking advantage of the balmy, warm evening. We set up some mics in Amir’s beautiful hillside garden under a starry sky. There was no audience - just the moon, the stillness of the trees and the sounds of the night ...the chirupping of the insects in the background adding another dimension as they seem to weave into the music. We played deep into the night, and from those recordings come these two tracks River of Stars and Isra, which is a Sufi term for the supersensible inter-dimensional travel by night.

Dedication:
Recently a friend of ours, still a teenager, dies under tragic circumstances. This has caused shockwaves through our extended community. His mother is a very dear friend of ours, and she in turn is deeply beloved by many as a wise and compassionate woman. In the midst of this tragedy I'd like to dedicate the piece 'River of Stars' for Arro, Fiona, Aloha and all those in need of some stillness and peace in this dark night of the soul.

River Of Stars (dedicated to Arro, Fiona, Aloha)

Part 3 of a 3-track release with acoustic Original, Dance Remix by Kareem Raïhani and Tantric Chill Remix by Praful. 
A reverence to the mystery and sacredness of our Earth, Pachamama. An expression of gratitude to the healing energy and empowering forces of plants, animals and all the elements. A humble reminder, that we all ARE nature and cannot survive if we continue to destroy the very basis that makes our existence possible (something becoming increasingly visible to all of us). An invitation to remember and celebrate our universal connection with earth and spirit, and to restore the harmony between our beautiful, precious blue planet and all sentient beings. 
It is medicine music – medicine for the heart.

Born in Washington DC, DJ Phoenix began banging on drums at the age of 6 thus beginning a deep love affair with rhythm and beat. Growing up in a home surrounded by music he was mesmerized by the fusion of different ethnic cultures’ music styles. “I would get in trouble all the time for digging through my parents record collection when they weren’t looking. I would have records strewn out across the floor. I was completely captivated by all of the different sounds that could be made,” Phoenix recounts. After spending 4 1/2 years in India traveling all over the country with a small spiritual music group Phoenix landed in Santa Fe, New Mexico just as the rave scene was kicking into full gear. At 19 he bought his first pair of turntables and by 21 was playing along side world-renowned DJ’s as Bad Company and Nigel Richards. In 2003 Phoenix started his Producing career and has since added his magical touch to over 15 albums and many other projects including “Snatam Live in Concert” and “Limitless Light” by famed songwriter Ramez Iskander. Today Phoenix runs his production company Dragonfly Recordings and when he’s not out playing shows he is almost always in the studio writing new music, remixing tracks, or producing the next up and coming artist. Phoenix's live DJ shows are wildly entertaining and incorporate massive amounts of originals, remixes and live played samples all fused together in what can only be called a journey that takes the mind, body, and spirit for a ride.
