Soulful cross-genre electronic duo Prys was started by Breck Brunson and Ben McClintock in 2016. They met in San Francisco while residing in a warehouse of 13 occupants. Sharing a love of hip hop and acts like multi-genred Sly and the Family Stone and r&b singer-songwriter D'Angelo the duo began writing and recording sketches. After moving to different coasts Breck and Ben were determined to complete their bassy adventure via email. This led to their first album titled ISLY. 

Released on January 7th 2020, ISLY is a testament to modern love and social navigation. Where do we go from here and with who? The title track ISLY references the Isley Brothers by name and is an acronym for I Still Love You. The lyrics playfully explore life as entertainment to be marveled at and seen with one's eyes closed and ears open. And through it all, a place for love is intact and willfully sound. The rest of the album holds true to theme through sonic nods to hip hop, jazz, rock, electronic, and pop. 

Breck and Ben have performed in various live acts. Breck was the lead vocalist for post punk act The Apes, heavy drone rock band Screens, and folk r&b trio almondsandpearls. Ben is co-founder and lead guitarist in Smokin’ Ziggurats and his solo project entitled Foli. Both also continue to make beats and write lyrics and music for others.

Since I was a girl, I've always loved blues, jazz, and R&B. I grew up listening to a lot of Nat Cole, Patsy Cline, Aretha Franklin, and Lauryn Hill. These singers have had great influence on me vocally, along with Una Mae Carlisle, Peggy Lee, Bessie Smith, Anita O'Day, Billie Holiday, of course Ella Fitzgerald, and probably my favorite of the bunch, local living legend Barbara Dane.
