I began writing this piece for minimalist organ with the intention of having multiple overlapping sections, but then I got bored and added some funk.  When I got to editing in Audacity, I added a "Paul Stretch" to a section which is the thing that makes it sometimes sound like it's "underwater", but this time it sounded like an airplane, so I got obsessed with that noise and put it all over the track in different forms and made that the general theme.

Kardia is 1 year old soon so I decided to completely redo my vocal. I think it's closer to the timbres I want now.

Kardia was inspired by my Auntie and spiritual seer when she asked me to write a positive song. I decided to base it on the core of our beings and in the light of what we project from ourselves out onto the world and each other. Positivity is our key to balance and in my opinion, survival.

With Kardia, musically, I stopped limiting myself with what other people thought about what I might like to do with my songs and what ideas I might like to project with them. Before this song I filtered out a lot of good ideas because of fear of what other people might think instead of expressing what I do actually feel about something. Other people's opinions of me at the end of the day are important but none of my business. So choir boy Carl tried to come out here and lyrically the strong belief in projecting positivity onto each other got written and sang without any filter. The song also confirmed an important element of minimalism in my style which lays a bed for a clear message and allows the voice express more around a simple structure. It is based on the solfeggio frequency 639Hz, which resonates with our heart in that world of thinking.

Kardia was my first 1000 play song too so it kind of started the TBD train in motion both for lots of you guys and in my own head. Kardia said to me, ok maybe I do have something. It gave me belief in myself so I'm ever grateful to the song for that reason too.

Neowakan, Aileen Asatouri, Who is an amazingly talented artist from Iran joins me on vocal so that makes this song extra extra special to me.

My daughter Matilda (9) also joins us for the Kardia bits with her beautiful voice.

The picture is a shadow made by an apple and a plant onto our kitchen door. Plants allow us live and breathe and their fruits allow us recycle them to stay alive. We need to synchronise with the planet properly and I think the path to that is a proper appreciation of the basics we have and the very little we actually need to survive. A collective foundation based on that I think will steer us towards a utopian existence we all desire where all life can enjoy a niche of less imposed suffering.
