This song has been a very big New York Dance Classic. It was given a fresh run in 92 as borrowed by Ashley Beedle's Black Science Orchestra alias ("Where were you") And again in 94, Kenny Dope sampled it in the B-Side of the original Bucketheads 12" single ("I wanna know"). Yes the one that had "The Bomb" on the other side. Obviously the huge success of "The Bomb" eclipsed it, and it was withdrawn from subsequent pressings. This song was also remixed on a scarce bootleg release a few years back which was rumoured to be the work of Joe Claussell. My version is a classic re-edit of the very original Tom Moulton full length mix from 1977

This is my take on one of my favorite songs by Candi Staton.  I flexed it with Logic to keep it nice and steady and extended the intro to 32 bars.  I kept most of the original verses and choruses together, but moved more quickly from the all-the-way-to-drums breakdown to the keyboard outro.

One thing that made this one tough to mix in and out of my sets was the fact that the riff moves in 6s (rather than 4s like many other disco tunes.)  I 'solved' that little dilemma by reworking the keyboard solo at the end to move in 4-bar groups.  Finally, I faded the instrumentation into the drum and bongo intro for a nice outro (from the beginning of the keyboard solo there are 48 bars left in the track.)  I hope you enjoy it playing it as much as I enjoyed making it!

BIOGRAPHY 
With a carreer that’s 3 decades young and still growing, Brendon P has a long history of Clubs and Music. Starting out in 1980 in the local mobile circuit, and moving on to Clubs a year later, a visit to New York in 1984, and clubs such as the Funhouse, the Paradise Garage, Dancetaria and Area weaned him into the New York club culture, and into the music that was to become the house music that we hear today. Crossing vast musical backgrounds over his years as a DJ, both locally and internationally, he continued to acquire a keen ear and passion for dance music. Having recently completed a 8 year residency at the globally renowned, Zouk Club in Singapore (in May 2009), playing with dj’s like Dubfire/Deep Dish, Francois K, Charles Webster, Dennis Ferrer, Darren Emerson, Carl Craig, Kenny Hawkes, Little Louie Vega &amp; Swag to name a few, Brendon now hosts several monthly and weekly residencies around the island as well as his international schedule. 
Having recently played at the world renowned Cielo Club in New York (June 2010), Brendon has also released his own original material/remixes released on Reversoulmusic (US), Defected (UK), Rawjak (SG) and One With Music (SG).With his stringent adherence to music style and sophistication and attention to detail, it's not difficult to understand why Nicolas Mattar, owner of New York's globally recognized 'Cielo, calls him a 'taste-master' and one of the best DJ's in the region. Expect nothing less than a set that crosses vast musical boundaries, both past, present and future.
