This is a song I wrote about a situationship that I had been in for far too long and I kept going back but had no idea why. When I finally asked him what he wanted from me, I never heard from him again but I was so frustrated with myself that I wrote this song.

Are you just Lonely?

This was the first song I attempted to write on the piano and coming up with my own chords for it after I wrote the first verse. This song was somewhat inspired by Taylor Swift's "Haunted" although it ended up being very different story and sound-wise. I wrote this about a relationship I had that was essentially fading away instead of officially ending due to a lack of any communication.

Fading

This song is about the feeling of being stuck outside of someone else's narrative that they have built in their own head that can often be false and based on assumptions that they have made that aren't true. And the struggle that goes along with a relationship like that when one person is always stuck in their head, and the other person can't seem to wake them up to reality.

This is about as pretty a melody as we can do. With inspiration taken from Zero7 and Cinematic Orchestra, as well as contemporary lofi and a pinch of Phil Collins' drums. Hacky & Bird guided the lofi aspects, and Yahli contributed the live drumming parts. Otherwise written and performed by impulse nine as a break from an upcoming album.

For over 20 years, impulse nine was a private home studio project, but has expanded to include musicians from Tucson and around the world. After hundreds of demos and untold hours, impulse nine is being presented to the world as a mostly-instrumental amalgam of shoegaze, hard rock, and post-rock, with influences from ambient, 90s rock, and other places.
