This piece was written for the National Portrait Gallery concert organised by the RCM. This piece was inspired by a painting of an old person sitting in a chair while being surrounded by an Owl and a dog and it was my attempt to write a jazzy, blues piece but an avant-garde and free jazz feel to it. The rest is history...!

'Owl Old, Old Owl? (for Alto Saxophone and Double Bass)

This is a piece written for the RCM Contemporary Music in Creation project. It is scored for two players, both of them playing more than one instrument. One musician plays two recorders of a different size and the other plays a set of percussion instruments which includes a Marimba, kick drum and a tom-tom. The title is a reference to a Lewis Carroll poem.

The Mome Raths Outgrabe ("Beware the Jabberwock, my son!")(for Recorders and Percussion)

This an opening extract from an orchestral piece that is currently in the works. Performed by the members of the RCM Philharmonic Orchestra. This piece is loosely inspired by a David Bowie instrumental piece from the album "Heroes".

A Sense of Doubt (for orchestra)

This piece was written for the RCM composers' orchestral workshop. It was meant to be an orchestral faux-jazz, faux-funk piece dominated by individual melodic lines jotted throughout each orchestral part or specific groupings, also with a massive emphasis on syncopation. My aim was to try and treat the orchestra as a big band ensemble, with some success though with its own share of problems as well. This piece was meant to be a work in progress and an experiment on using the orchestra and giving them unorthodox rhythms and melodic/rhythmic contours to work with.

Originally written to accompany the opening of the animated feature "Sky Blue" as part of the Composition for Screen course at the RCM.

The Music Department is responsible for the provision of music for the Cathedral, Cathedral Parish and for Diocesan liturgies.

The Department works closely with the Diocesan Departments, most especially the Liturgy Department.

The Department also provides training and resources for the parishes and schools.

The work also includes the running of the various choirs, including the Cathedral Choir, and the organisation of regular concerts, all of which serve to promote awareness of the traditions and developments in liturgical music.
