Was für ein Wochenende! 

Das Lichtalbenfestival 2021 war ein besonderer Moment für meine Freunde und mich. Tolle Location, klasse Leute, mega Glück mit dem Wetter.

Zum einen durfte ich dank olibrii und der tollen 60 Zoll Crew aus Hannover selbst spielen Samstag Nacht von 1:00-3:00 Uhr in einer cosy Lagerfeueratmosphäre beim Kiosk.
Zum anderen waren meine Homies Electrogecko und cLam genauso geflasht wie ich, mal wieder raus zu kommen nach dem Lockdownwahnsinn.
Und last but not least durfte ich einige Soundcloudbuddies persönlich kennen lernen, den jeweiligen Menschen dahinter quasi.

Ich freue mich, mit den sympathischen Leuten aus Kassel um Kiki Kokolores und Coordese abhängen und tanzen zu dürfen. (Kikis Set war übrigens der Killer und mein persönliches Highlight des ganzen Wochenendes.)
Fredaric und Marlin Helene von der Diskoflausch Crew waren auch da und ziemlich cool. Marlin Helene hat gleich zwei mal gerockt, was das Zeug hält.
Xayíde spielte wunderschön verträumt nach mir und entpuppte sich ebenfalls als supernett. Ich hoffe, ich habe niemanden vergessen, natürlich waren auch jede Menge für mich neue Leute da.

Rundum ein Erlebnis, wirklich ein gelungenes Festival. Ich habe mich selten so wie in einer großen Familie gefühlt. Und es hat so Spaß gemacht. Sonntags wurde es dann auch dank olibrii´s und baenj´s chanagang Auftritt einfach nur so absurd, dass wir uns spontan den Montag frei nehmen mussten.  HAMMER!

"The Curious Case of Bretfast Button"


Live recording of my set as part of the Sokosolirave @ the infamous Fundbureau Hamburg on April 28th.

I played it as the closing set of Bummelbar from 04:00 - 07:00 am and my idea was to "buttonize" the common way of how to build up a set in terms of progression,  velocity and a raising energy level. 
It starts at a personal high for me around 110 bpm, with a constant relief from there to what I refer to as bummelbounce in the low 90s area. 

I liked the approach, had a lot of fun and definitely felt younger in the morning, lol...

One of the most music-oriented  djs, Yury Nils, recorded an hour-long amazing mix for dtb!. The mix has throbbing, psychedelic,  sometimes dark, but a very dance sound at a pace of 108 bpm.  Black as coffee, 100 percent masculine, well-roasted and with eggs. It won’t leave anyone indifferent.

Liquid Bloom and Poranguí, the dynamic duo known for their immersive journey music, have once again graced us with a masterpiece in the form of "Inner Sanctum (Medicine Buddha Mantra Prayer)." As part of their Kuya Series, which explores unique soundscapes for psychedelic therapy, this track stands out as a potent and soulful expression of sound healing.
The origins of "Inner Sanctum" can be traced back to the “Kuya Sessions: Samadhi” album, where it initially featured an excerpt of the Tibetan medicine buddha mantra sung by Poranguí.  Recognizing the potential distraction in its repeated presence during psychedelic therapy sessions, Amani Friend (Liquid Bloom) and Poranguí made a difficult decision to reduce its prominence in the original 25 minute track. This left them wanting to create a refined 9-minute version that beautifully showcased the Medicine Buddha Mantra.

Collaborating with the talented David Satori of Beats Antique and Dirtwire, Amani and Poranguí introduce a unique element to the mantra incorporating the haunting and mystical sound of the bowed banjo. The addition creates an ethereal melodic atmosphere, reminiscent of traditional East Indian instruments, providing further depth and texture to the rich sonic landscape.
The layers within "Inner Sanctum" are a testament to Liquid Bloom and Poranguí's commitment to weaving organic elements into their journey music. The careful arrangement of these layers creates a sonic tapestry that invites listeners to embark on a meditative exploration of their inner selves. In a world where chaos and stress often dominate, "Inner Sanctum" serves as a sanctuary of tranquility, inviting listeners to experience a sense of healing and solace.

The origins of the Medicine Buddha Mantra are deeply rooted in the tapestry of Tibetan Buddhist culture and lineage. I felt like creating a lounge-like atmosphere, without a certain preferred style oder genre. This is how I started the mix. But at some point people came up to me and friendly asked for a little bit more spice and energy in the beautiful place. I sped the flow up from there a notch and tried to let the groove do the rest.

It worked out I guess, which made me quite happy, because as you might know, I´m more of a podcaster than an action based DJ on any kind of stage. I rarely play in front of people, and therefore am not used to improvise and let the flow and feedback of the audience control the direction of the set. 

As I haven´t seen some of the people in years, I was talking to one or the other while mixing. Therefore please don´t pay too much attention to the transitions. Furthermore it wasn´t that easy for my ruptured ears to mix without monitoring and many people having conversations. I gave my best  and I thought I might as well upload it. 

This mix is about friendship, the love to life, the vibe,
thankfulness in general and 
the appreciation of our creator, lord and saviour!

I played this mix as the aspiring young "Am Draht Collective" asked me kindly to begin the evening with some downtempo tunes, which I enjoyed a lot to do.

What a great setup. 
Many friends actually showed up, the sun really gave its best all day and the cozy location contributed to seemingly everybody having a good time. Smiling people all over the place and a dancing dove on the jog dial is what I will remember from this amazing day and party.
