Brian Ingoldsby (b. Dublin, 1949) was a career civil servant for over forty years, during which time he had occasionally arranged and composed, mainly for choral forces. On retirement, he studied for a BMus (1st class honours: 2012) in NUI Maynooth, majoring in composition (under Dr Martin O’Leary), and he has recently completed an MPhil in Composition in TCD (with Dr Evangelia Rigaki). Formal study has broadened his compositional palette to encompass purely instrumental music along with his first love, works for choir. As well as composing, he is an active choir singer and occasional conductor.
