the chair still waits where your laughter sat
i cleaned the cup, but still poured two
i light a flame, then let it die
every day, i build and undo

there’s peace in tending little things
but ache in all that’s left unseen

the channel runs through me
loss on one side, hope on the other
i swim between memory
and the dream of some new color
the channel runs through me
like a wound and like a prayer
healing comes and disappears
and still, i meet it there

i rearrange the books you read
speak aloud though no one hears
then walk for miles just to breathe
one foot in love, one in fear

i hold your name with gentle hands
but learn to loosen what i can

i drift through tides of memory
then rebuild what grief uncovers

sometimes calm, sometimes flood
i don’t dam the tears i know
they move me like your love

this isn’t forgetting
or pretending i don’t ache

(Summary)

This song is my way of expressing the rhythm of grief, how it flows between moments of pain and moments of healing. “The Channel” represents that inner current we all carry after loss. Some days, it’s quiet. Some days, it floods. But through it all, I wanted to capture how love and memory remain active forces in our lives. Writing this helped me reflect on grief not as a block, but as a passage.
