From Europe’s southern tip in the Gibraltar-facing port city of Algeciras comes ORBE, the Spanish techno enthusiast whose potent beats have hammered out a pedigree path both as DJ and producer. Prevailing winds carried Fernando Sanz first to Seville to study sound engineering, later to Madrid where the fertile scene allowed him to build a community of music-minded friends that have put that city squarely on the map. Under these conditions, his work (what he terms a means of ‘contacting the future, the avant-garde’) has developed into something much deeper and more sophisticated. His love of artists like Brian Eno and Boards of Canada, and roots in breakbeat and drum and bass have informed a style that’s allowed him to take up the mantle as one of Spain’s most interesting talents. Under his self-titled record label (est. 2014) come his signature killer tunes, and in his work with names like Eduardo de la Calle and labels like Token, Hivern Discs, Axis and Mote Evolver a pole position at the forefront of modern techno. Fresh off his set on the Bassiani floor (14th March) comes this next Bassiani mix. Tensile rhythms that lurch ahead with supernatural power, an involute web of intelligent sounds that attest to his skill as selector. Bassiani Podcast 254 is an hour-long mash up of elfin beats, a vibrating hymn to the sounds of tomorrow, Orbe at the top of his game.

San Francisco producer JX-216 is right at home with this new five track EP, War of Belief on @from0to1

Visceral energy and maximalism are themes ongoing throughout this selection. Hour after Hour kicks it off, arps and basslines move the track forward; War of Belief follows up heavy, and dominates with filtered leads. Pressure Vessel keeps the energy driving, and Echoes in the Fire follows suit. Gunships closes the EP with drummy psychedelic persistence. Run by JX-216 and Sone, From 0-1 is a well-known underground techno label from America that has featured artists like Operator (UK), Hans Bouffmyhre, and Echologist, also known as Brendon Moeller.

In addition to co-owning From 0-1, JX-216 is a producer based in San Francisco. Among his releases are Detroit's Blank Code, Coyu's Suara, Hans Bouffmyhre's Sleaze, Gary Beck's BEK Audio, and SUB tl by HD Substance.

For this DT:Premiere we selected "Pressure Vessel" that has a pummeling kick, throbbing bassline and percussion elements underlying mechanical synths, that swarm and expand for a raw, purist, sound with a menacing vibe.

Sone - Bunker

Sone is Seattle, Washington based DJ and producer Brian Sonnleitner. His first exploits into live music was being immersed in the underground punk scene in Wisconsin during the mid/late 90's. Fast forward to now, while keeping the same energy and ethos of his early experiences, Brian is a DJ of well over a decade with his sets trending towards the driving and tracky side of techno.

2008 brought Sone into the realm of production with his music exploring a heavier, stripped down sound. His original productions and remixes have received support from Ben Sims, Reggy van Oers, Joachim Spieth, Juho Kusti, TWR72, Soolee, and many others.  His tracks appear on his home label, From 0-1, which he runs with long time friend Milkplant; while surfacing on other labels such as Android Muziq,  Webuildmachines, Rheostatus, and Darknet.
