This mix was made from music that inspired me over the last year, mostly by artists that played at Mutual Dreaming or whose sets had a profound impact on me.  Seeing legends Terrence Dixon,  DJ Sprinkles and Function in particular left me with new sense of dance music as elemental geometry balanced between the extremes of human emotion: ecstatic & heavenly, or twisted & frightening.  This mix explores that space between – it goes from dark and churning to sensual, soft and introspective, and the various moods along the way.

Echoing a diverse upbringing between Chicago and Miami, Deroboter became fascinated with music, electronics and computing at an early age. This naturally led to his prowess of sound design and experimentation where he excels at audibly commanding music as the short hand of emotion.

I wanted this to deliver a varied overture of my own musical tastes. A composition displaying artists, labels,and  sounds that inspire me while remaining true to the Sunday Morning theme.  Enjoy!  

SUNDAY MORNING - 07 - Deroboter

Mix of Italian ambient/minimalist/avant-garde music, mostly emanating from institutions supporting the visual arts in cities like Milan and Rome: theatre production soundtracks, video installations and architectural studies. Ethnographic plunderphonics, post-Battiato spiritual minimalism and hypnotic FM patterns, flowing with Mediterranean fourth world currents throughout.
