This is a live performance I did, on the air, for WUSB (Stony Brook University Radio) in December.  I played five songs and did a short interview (which was not included here).  All music performed and recorded using Ableton Live.

Justin was born in 1985 and raised in Clear Lake—a suburb of Houston, TX.  Currently, he resides in San Antonio, TX.

Ausgrave Royalty the name refers to a group of constructs in Justin’s mind that inspire him when composing.  Overall, this project is about inspiring hope and optimism through various auditory lenses.

His inspiration comes from Philosophy (Aristotle, Ayn Rand, Stefan Molyneux, Alan Watts, and many others), video games (which were a large part of his childhood), and anime to name a few.

In terms of other artists that inspire Ausgrave Royalty—there are quite a bit and that list is always changing, but, to name a few:  Darren Korb (Bastion and Transistor soundtracks), Crystal Castles, ODESZA, Anamanaguchi, GRiZ, Pretty Lights, Purity Ring, New Division, Kavinsky, and Perterbator.

Ausgrave Royalty’s genre is currently undefined as it is still trying to find that out.  However, it currently aspires to be something utilizing a combination of the nostalgic retro sounds and simple-yet-ambitious track compositions of Chiptune and Synthwave (Chipwave?).  That being said, HipHop is also an influence that cannot be denied.

Long-term, Justin hopes to DJ as well as compose.

In terms of gear and equipment, Ausgrave Royalty uses Ableton Live 9 with an Ableton Push MIDI controller.  He uses various VSTS like NI’s KOMPLETE 9, but is still learning them.

Donations will either go to music equipment/training/software or to costs that will help Justin produce full-time.
