This is my second Supreme Rallentato mix - the technique of playing records cut at 45rpm, at the wrong speed, 33rpm. I call it Chug Funk.

It’s slow, sexy, slinky music for the hips and groin - perfect for rubbing bodies against each other.

Recorded with a pair of Techincs SL1210 MK2s with Ortofon Concorde DJ cartridges and a Denon MCX8000 mixer. The only post production was some limiting and EQ.

Chug Funk Volume 2 : Slow Rave / Supreme Rallentato / Wrong Speed / 45s @33

Amplio Espectro is a Buenos Aires-based label curated by Carolina Stegmayer and Ismael Pinkler, whose entanglement of their names and personal/professional lives gave birth to the duo Carisma. They successfully amassed a true international dream team of collaborators for their forthcoming release: Cornelius Doctor (France), Andrea Paz (Chile), Bryan Kessler (Germany), Aristidez (Peru), Kodemul (Mexico) and Kamila Govorcin (Chile), each one of them taking us on a remix trip adding their hyper-personal touches to two Carisma's tracks: “En tus Sueños” and “Fracciones”.

The track we chose to premiere brings Aristidez delivering a trippy and groovy interpretation of “Fracciones”. The Peruvian artist, who rocked the world with his 2018 release on the almighty Calypso Records, flirts this time with percussive breakbeats and melodic synth layers, providing a cosmic atmosphere, but with his traditional Latin sonority. The result: A curious concoction that enriches the release of the charismatic Argentinian duo.

Following the release of Floating Points' limited edition cassette, the Los Angeles-based tastemakers from Far Away return with their latest offering; 'The Gold Rush' by Pop District. Recorded in bedroom studios between 2009-2012 during after-hours sessions, Pop District finished this debut long player in 2020. The album remains in original form in 2020 and is being released in both mix and LP format. Beautiful hazy soundscapes for daydreaming and stargazing.

Volantis shares his latest body of work. An excellent 7-track EP inspired by events between South Africa and Italy. Building a strong reputation in the Italian clubbing landscape, Alessandro Carnevali, aka Volantis, is an eclectic figure of the Milanese underground. Throughout years of musical exploration, his production style is firmly driven by warm sounds, rhythm and funky bass lines. With his new release landing on his own co-run Alzaya imprint late September, we have the pleasure of running our personal favourite 'Swellendam' in full today.

With the big synth sweeps of the original 'Pop Shock' and 'Dry Me' gaining playtime by the likes of Dixon, &ME and Toto Chiavetta, the two remixers strip it down on both counts for a classy transformation. Responsible for 'Dry Me', German producer and DJ Daniel Bortz delivers a bumping house groover over which the lead synth firmly resonates. Fresh from releasing his well-received 'One More Rush' EP, Intercept label regular Baril opts for creating an emotive breakbeat affair that also got picked up by the Keinemusik crew, who included it in their recent Essential Mix.
