Closing track "Acid Lights" ties it all together - bouncy tech house laced with subtle acid touches and a vocal nod to Detroit.

Billenkoek Vol. 1 is the saucy opening chapter of Dutch imprint Booty School — indisputably solidifying the label’s distinctive lush, vibrant, and playful sound.

“Billenkoek” is a Dutch term that can be loosely translated as “asscake,” but a more accurate translation would be “spanking.” In this case, it refers not so much to the punishment, but rather to a playful interpretation of it — the album functioning as a sonic spanking.

About the track:
I'm a guy from southern Spain who's been messing with music production and mixing since I was an early teen - I was 13 the first time I made a beat and was using Atomix MP3 to do mashups before that. Also I've been a fan of electronic music since I was a little kid, and most of my music projects have been built on this major genre.

My Process:
As chaotic as it is, I find comfort in not being strict with myself or following a predefined path when I make music. It would be hard to break it down as it varies pretty much every time I create a song. Most often, though, I will start with drums and basslines - those two are the foundations on which I normally erect my sound sculptures, even if they don't end up carrying the meaning and soul of the final product.

About This Song:
For this song, it was no different. I started off with the drums and sub bass, though in this case they do indeed conform the core of the track. Strongly influenced by the UK sound, it also helped me take the vocal sample off my bucket list, since I'd wanted to use it for ages (for anyone curious, Dead Prez - Hip Hop, one of my fav tunes as a teen).

This song is purely intended to vibe to it. No matter if you play it at home, in your car, or at the club, it's a gentle but solid song for fans of darker, smoother cuts.
