“Sarno Ultra” opens up a new musical chapter in the lives of Jon Worsley and Kayla Painter. Known for both their own solo material and their collaborative work in Jilk, these two underground stalwarts have come together for something entirely different on this new project.

Prepare for a sense altering trip that creates and traverses through a futuristic audio landscape and leaves no surface untouched.

Fractured vocals, intricate cascading rhythms, collapsing mechanical structures and pulsing textures carry the weight as we shift between moods and tempos with open eyes and ears.

There’s blasts of high energy percussion and glitch laden sound design that effortlessly mesh with the more melancholic sounds and brittle bliss that partners them. It’s an album that never sits still. Even in its quieter and warmer moments, “Sarno Ultra”, always keeps us guessing which exploratory path we’re headed down next.

The latest @fragilex album brings new meaning to the term “labour of love”. It’s an album that’s been in the works for quite some time. The album is inspired by a long term obsession with fractals and their never ending possibilities.

The original production process on the “Curves and Calculus” album began back in 2018 and in the 7 years since its original inception it has morphed and splintered in many directions to allow all the parts of the puzzle to fall into place.

The finished article is a musical maze, brimming with all manner of corridors and pathways to explore. Pulling in inspirations from every angle of the electronic spectrum and integrating them into a mesmerising journey full of colour, serenity and warmth.

We enter and end the trip in an ambient mood but along the way there’s a nod to the psychedelic aspect that is so often associated with fractals, when we take on a trippier tone as the tracks burst into life through twists of intricate drums and flashes of glowing energy and shifts in motion. Mirroring the boundless nature and expansion of infinity.

All the shapes we experience come lined with effervescent melodies, glitchy sonic backdrops, glassy textures and a constant propulsive motion. Always kinetic, looking for the next move, like the fractal.

“Curves and Calculus” is an audio landscape that is constantly evolving. No real beginning, no real end. A symphony of infinite equations.
