Gaze is Ghost is the pseudonym of Northern Irish composer and singer-songwriter Laura McGarrigle. She currently lives in Scotland and is frequently joined by drummer Casey Miller (of Zed Penguin)and  Keith Mannion (who records under the moniker Slow Place Like Home).

Fresh from the twisted machinations and fertile imagination of Cumbrian-born, London-dwelling artist and seer Natalie Sharp, Lone Taxidermist’s debut album ‘Trifle’ is a gallery of grotesquery not recommended for either the nervous of disposition or lactose intolerant. Arriving from a nocturnal world of sex and skullduggery, these irreverent and outlandish ditties exist on a unique psychic realm in which profane and profound happily step out together on the lash - a collision between the high-maintenance and the kitchen sink that’s a feverish spectacle to behold. 

Along with her co-conspirators Philip Winter (Wrangler/Tuung) and Will Kwerk, Sharp decamped to the splendid isolation of the otherworldly Bodmin Moor studio of Benge (John Foxx & The Maths/Wrangler) to sculp this unique and deliriously disconcerting confection, equally informed by post-punk angularities and electronic experimentation. 

Invariably on the lookout for new and surreal dimensions of expression, Sharp’s malicious metier lurks somewhere between the eldritch diva manifestations of Diamanda Galas and the wry reflections of Victoria Wood, yet equally driven by a magpie spirit and conceptual chutzpah redolent of Leigh Bowery and an acidic wit damaged by John Cooper Clarke. It’s a stylistic path that has led to her being increasingly over-subscribed as collaborative maverick of choice for a dizzying array of artists, including recent work with Jenny Hval and Gazelle Twin.

Yet for now, our just desserts can be found within ‘Trifle’, an unflinching glimpse into a world created and (for her sins) lived in by Sharp, where glamour and gluttony marry as harmoniously as frozen summer fruits, gelatine, custard and cream. The proof, in this case, is very much in the pudding.

Bricolotheque are Matt Abysmal and Rob Lucas. They make music but they are not musicians, and this will never be their career.

There have been seven years of quiet. These years are now hopefully over. New songs will emerge here in early 2018.

Bricolotheque have been fortunate to play shows with The Fall, The Whip, The Fiery Furnaces, Times New Viking, Wolf Alice, Yuck, Shrag, Ultrasound, The Chap, Kate Jackson, Sissy and the Blisters and Peace, to name a few.

"Bricolotheque are a two-piece dark ambient outfit, who decked out the stage with keys and electronic apparatus. Previous research into Bricolotheque discovered that they’re a band who describes themselves as, “better at writing songs than they are at playing them” and after tonight I would argue they’re underselling themselves, the songs were great but the performance was just as. Bricolotheque were loud, possibly the loudest we’ve heard in The Portland’s petite backroom, yet through the noise and heavy sub bass there was no distortion. And vocalist Matt Abysmal played the protagonist, juddering and animated, and literally breached the gap between stage and audience. Bricolotheque deployed icy keys that chilled more than the cold snowing airing outside. Foremost it has to be said that Bricolotheque are an outfit you’ll have a definite yes or no opinion, their industrial 80’s ambience, circa The KLF, is not the style or genre to collate fence sitters. Liked or disliked, all in attendance will agree Bricolotheque were unforgettable."
