StepByStep is an app designed to evaluate and facilitate sequencing skills. It was designed by an occupational therapist and can be used with both adults and children. It is appropriate for users of all ages with impaired or developing cognitive skills.

Attainment's Social Success is a wonderful social-skills training tool to help adolescents and young adults on the autism spectrum prepare for social independence. This app provides interactive tutorials on five topics that are relevant to daily living: at school, with friends, important skills, using technology and at work. Each of these topics explores key subtopics, such as asking for help, appropriate text messaging, safety at home, etc.

Nutrition and diet apps for mobile devices have become powerful tools for self-awareness, accountability, and monitoring dietary intake. Many of these apps have tracker capabilities that have replaced the tedious task of keeping food records by hand on paper. Leading the pack of countless nutrition and diet apps is MyFitnessPal. MyFitnessPal is a calorie counter and food diary app that is, by design, a fantastic tool to help with weight management goals.

Whether you have been hitting the pavement with your feet for years or are a beginner runner, there is nothing better than a new pair of running shoes and fresh new music to put the hop in your stride. Though there is not an app for new shoes (yet), there is an app for adding fresh new music to a workout. RockMyRun is a fantastic and fun music app that offers cadence-based playlists created by DJs to put some fun in a run. The uses for this app go beyond running with cadence, in the form of beats per minute (bpm), as the key to its flexibility. The main feature of RockMyRun is the use of "beats per minute" as the basis of each DJ mix. A user searches and selects specific playlists in a genre of their preference that also matches their natural running, or even cycling, cadence. The genres are diverse and include options such as oldies, rock, classical, Christian, hip hop, and country music.

There is no argument that it is important to be prepared in case a disaster strikes. Knowing we should be prepared does not necessarily mean we actually accomplish the disaster preparation task. The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) has come up with an interesting and very helpful way for families to be safe when disaster strikes by providing tools and resources, presented in the form of a mobile device app, to assist with preparation before, during and even after a disaster event. The FEMA app is FREE and available for iOS, Android and Blackberry devices.

Skyview is an astrology app that turns mobile devices into a virtual telescope. It uses your location to overlay your view of the sky onto your camera view. Skyview locates planets, stars, constellations, and a few of the brightest satellites that orbit the earth. This highly engaging app makes stargazing interactive and educational. Additional features include night mode and an augmented reality view of the universe. Users can select a celestial body by tapping the "I" button (or swiping up) to see detailed images and more information. Calming music, sound effects and sky object trajectories can be enabled or disabled when using the app. Another great resource is the option to download section where users can get even more awesome sky objects to find and follow. Skyview is a favorite science app of BridgingApps. We trialed this app with users of all ages and abilities and it was a hit.

Proloquo2Go is a full featured augmentative communication application (AAC) that offers picture only, picture and text, and keyboard options for message formulation. The voices available are a more natural sounding male, female adult or child and can be swapped for British or Indian accented English at no cost to the user.

Life360 runs on your mobile device and allows you to view your family members on a map, communicate with them, and receive alerts when your loved ones leave and arrive at home, school or work.

TracknShare LITE is an app journal to track just about anything. You can track areas related to health (ex: stress, pain, sleep, medication, exercise, etc), life goals, your mood, habits, the weather, or even create your own category. Getting started takes a bit of time to set up, but our users who trialed this app liked the customizable feature in the free version. The learning curve was easy, and our users loved the visual icons for the categories. Another plus was the graphing feature, which gives you a choice of viewing the graph daily, weekly or monthy. You also have the ability to share your tracked data as html or as a .csv file. This feature was helpful in sharing users tracked categories with counselors, therapists, doctors, etc.

Speech Sound Visualized is an app that can be used by a Speech Language Pathologist to help teach children or adults how to produce speech sounds. The app presents a video x-ray of the mouth as a sound is produced. The therapist can use the video to show the client how to move each articulator to produce a sound correctly.
