On Pain Waves, Seattle, WA’s Chris King & The Gutterballs have crafted a record that breathes in the spaces between Americana, Country, and Rock & Roll. King’s plaintive, near high-lonesome voice and weary swagger belie his youth, though the maturity of his songwriting does little to dispel the illusion. Sometimes life steps on the accelerator without asking permission, and Pain Waves is a snapshot of eighteen months of rapid-fire transition; a rush of reality that these days is all too relatable.   

King, who began playing guitar at fifteen in his local church, headed to Seattle a few years back to find his fortune. As fate would have it, he wound up connecting with his band The Gutterballs. They released two acclaimed EP’s (Hidin’ Out in 2014, followed in 2016 by Cocktails), landed spots on the prominent local Upstream, Freakout Fest, and Bigass Boombox festivals, garnered adulation and rotation from local bastion of independent radio KEXP, and hosted a residency at the historic Blue Moon Tavern.

Then what might as well be called “The Blizzard of 2016” hit. “I got sober after a dramatic break up with the love of my life” says King. “We lost our bass player, a band members father died, and my dog passed away. Then we lost our recording studio in Shoreline as our current president was being elected.” As the pressure mounted, King fell into an emotional, existential whirlwind. “It became a pivotal point in my self-perception and my outlook on life in general. I found catharsis in songwriting.”

Once King had the arrangements where he wanted them, they rehearsed five days a week for two months before heading to the studio. All the songs on Pain Waves were recorded live and mixed with Tom Meyers (Prom Queen, Thee Emergency, Country Lips) at Ground Control Studios in the Ballard neighborhood of Seattle, WA from January-December of 2018. Jon Pontrello (The Moondoggies) lends a hand on pedal steel and vibraphone, Joe Doria plays the Hammond organ, and Jason Goessl guests on backup guitar. 

“While this album was written during a trying period, I still believe this is an amazing time to be alive” King explains. "We can be real with ourselves and each other and feel true unfiltered emotion and express ourselves freely. Not a lot of people want to confront the dark side of life, but I’m proud that this record dives in head first. Yet there’s a brighter lining; signs of hope for the future, euphoria thru realism and cathartic release through pain. The last lyric of the album is “Love” and that’s what I hope the listener feels as the last notes ring away.”

BIOGRAFÍA
Luego de permanecer por cuatro años (1993- 1997) en la Orquesta que los vio nacer y los dio a conocer en varias partes del mundo, “Salserín”, SERVANDO Y FLORENTINO toman la decisión de lanzarse al ruedo musical como dúo (1997), ello en alianza con Ricardo Montaner quien los firmó en su disquera “Hecho a mano”. Mientras pertenecieron a esta casa discográfica, los Hermanos Primera salieron al mercado con 3 discos: “Los Primera”, “Muchacho Solitario” y “Paso a paso”, éste último en conjunto con Sony Music.  En 2003 y tras las quiebra de la casa disquera a la que pertenecían, Los Primera comienzan a ser manejados por Oswaldo Ponte Jr., quien es su representante artístico hasta la fecha.
En el 2004 el dúo graba su quinta larga duración titulada: “Servando y Florentino”, este álbum fue lanzado ese mismo año en Venezuela y en 2006 en el resto del mundo… No es hasta el 2010 cuando estos talentosos músicos regresan al mercado discográfico con su más reciente producción que lleva por nombre “It’s a wrap/ Se acabó” de la cual fue extraída “Me vas a recordar”, primer sencillo promocional que se lanzó conjuntamente en 11 países, logrando, tal y como se esperaba, una gran aceptación.
Temas como: “Una fan enamorada”, “Me enamoré”, “Una canción que te enamore” y “Si yo fuera tú” contribuyeron para que a SERVANDO Y FLORENTINO los catalogaran a nivel mundial como “Los hermanos más queridos de América”. 


La carrera de SERVANDO Y FLORENTINO está llena de éxitos y no sólo por su profesionalismo a nivel musical, estos jóvenes también han logrado múltiples elogios por su capacidad histriónica. Su primera experiencia fue en una telenovela “De sol a sol” la cual rebasó los números más altos de rating en Venezuela, Colombia, Ecuador y Perú. Posteriormente se destacaron en la gran pantalla, sus películas: “La primera vez”, dirigida por Luis Alberto Lamata (1997) y “Muchacho Solitario” que estuvo bajo la dirección de César Bolívar (1997),  ambas, obtuvieron múltiples reconocimientos a nivel mundial, dichos films lograron record de taquilla en Venezuela, Puerto Rico, Ecuador, Colombia, Panamá, Perú y Costa Rica. A su carrera actoral se suman 2 unitarios: “Colapso” –transmitido por RCTV- y “Qué será de mi” (Venevisión); además 3 series televisivas: “Los del Galpón” (VTV), “La Pandilla de los siete” (RCTV) y “Yo sin ti” (Venevisión). “Todo por tu amor” telenovela protagonizada por Janet Rodríguez y Jean Carlos Simancas le permitió a Los Primera llegar a muchos países de habla hispana. 
Importantes marcas se han interesado en SERVANDO Y FLORENTINO. Entre las campañas publicitarias en las que se ha visto involucrado este dúo se encuentra: Refrescos GOLDEN, para la cual fueron imagen durante 3 años en Venezuela, sus rostros aparecían en los envases de los refrescos así como también en las  vallas, además de avisos en prensa, radio y televisión. “Calzados TTC”, “Casa Blanca” y “Jump” se suman a la lista.
SERVANDO Y FLORENTINO se han hecho acreedores de múltiples galardones así como también han estado nominados a importantes premios, entre ellos: ACE, Lo Nuestro (4 nominaciones), “FAMA”, “V de Oro”, “La Orquídea” (durante 6 años seguidos), “Casandra” y “Biarriz de Francia”. 
SERVANDO Y FLORENTINO también lograron, gracias a su indiscutible talento, ingresar al mercado europeo. Su música ha hecho estragos en ciudades como Madrid, Tenerife y Zaragoza. Entre sus planes internacionales inmediatos está conquistar nuevas tierras, entre ellas: México, Argentino, Italia, entre otros.
