Up next on Soul Clap Records, the label that brought you the funk and all that stomping to move your trunk, we're smoothing it out with something truly deep. Presenting the break out debut of talented young David Marston. His roots reach back to his city of birth, Chicago, then spread to the island of Jamaica, where he grew up fascinated with the new world of sound around him. Early guitar training and eclectic musical influences exposed him to classic rock, the blues, jazz, reggae and dub; inexorably the emotive power of music took its hold on him. Now he represents the city of Philadelphia and strives to make music that combines varied, contrasting, and diverse musical elements in a manner that is both intricate and elegant. 

We originally took notice of David a couple years back when he sent us "Gruv", a deep saxophone driven bomb that became the A side of the Jamaicalia EP. Then it took over a year for him to feel ready with his next body of music, which included the future Deep 4 Life anthem "I Don't Want", "My Love Will Be Crying" and "Trust Me". For this EP we also have the world premier of Gemini Love aka Crew Love's three headed and two faced monster, Eli Goldstein, Gadi Mizrahi and Nick Monaco, who have gotten together to present a punky, funky remix of "I Don't Want". 

About his EP, titled Jamaicalia, in David's words: 
"Jamaicalia is a marriage of Jamaica and Tropicalia. I first encountered the term Tropicalia as the caption of a photograph taken in Jamaica. Intrigued, I discovered that Tropicalia was an avant-garde art movement that was started in the 1960s in Brazil. The movement came to exemplify cultural hybridity. It encouraged cultural syncretism: the merging of various and divergent artistic influences with the purpose of creating something novel and powerful. I am fascinated by Brazilian music, and the songs that are featured on this EP undoubtedly have strong Brazilian influences. My music, to a great extent, is the result of fusion; it is a creolized music, a pastiche of diverse styles. While my music is not typically Jamaican, Jamaican culture has had a significant influence on my approach to music creation. For me, Jamaicalia is an apt title for this body of music, because it embodies an experimental amalgam of world and dance musical elements."

Another Discobelle premiere, this time the awesome NYC outfit known as @fsqofficial (Funk Style Quality) delivers a Caribbean disco tinged remix and breathes new life with the aid of a warm sounding, late night disco atmosphere and funked up horns to the track "Giving Up On You" from Jamaican artist @davidmarstonja. 

The remix is part of the remix package to last years much lauded "Kindness of Bearer" EP (released on @soulclaprecs) which captured the laidback atmosphere of David Marstons island home.

PREMIERE: Bross (Ro) - Miraviglia (El Mundo Remix) [Magician On Duty]

Portuguese producer/dj Bruno Cardoso is better known as @xinobi, he is now delighted to announce his return in the form of new single "Piano Lessons". The three track single is slated for release this Friday, May 17th via @discotexas.

The single consists of two tracks that are both rooted and built around the piano. The piano being the most important element here, building on an idea that occurred to Xinobi, that of trying to learn the piano and then integrate it as much as possible on future releases, of which this marks the first. 

We here at Discobelle can proudly premiere the title track "Piano Lessons" from the single which has a classical feel with a jazzed up arrangement that makes this track twist like a snake until it finally explodes into a straight up ethereal banger.

“Piano Lessons came as pure magic, it was recorded and played a bit randomly, I’ve only added a few small tweaks when producing the track. Proof it was a magical moment the first time around. I have since tried to play it again and still can’t get as close to the soul I can feel in the original recording. Proof to me that that first time around was truly a magical moment”

Brigitte writes all of her melodies and lyrics,
occasionally from poetry she has written not only recently, but as well as many years ago. 

Inspired by jazz-fusion. Argentinian and Cuban mix. The past decade, Brigitte Zozula has searched for artists around NYC in collaboration for new projects. Working with artists such as the very talented David Marston (also part of Deja Villa, and represented by Ultra Music/Soul Clap Records/Crew Love/Wolf & Lamb). In November of 2017, Brigitte and David released « Under The Covers » , an EP off of Wolf + Lamb Records that includes a few covers (including some of their previous work) with a reggae twist. 

While attending Frank Sinatra School of the Performing Arts in 2006, Brigitte had the opportunity to be the lead singer in the schools Jazz Band. This guided Brigittes interest in Jazz music and the natural art form of jazz. Attending IAR (Institute of Audio Research) in 2016, studying Music & Entertainment Management, Brigitte has learned from various courses. After the completion of the MEMP Program at IAR in 2016, and winning the Next Level Competition in 2016, Brigitte continues her path to expand the conscious generation. Always open to work with artists all over the world, intertwining ideas and culture throughout her many styles.
