Jules Wells is from Bordeaux, France. He started Djing in the late 90’s, and released his first productions in 2008 on Logos Recordings.

Strongly influenced by the Motor City, Jules already released material on several respected Detroit-based labels like KMS, Electrofunk, Submerge Recordings, Twilight 76 Rec, and RPD, but also on various labels such as Lo-deep (France), Purebox (Japan) and Logos (Macedonia). These EPs received massive support from many Djs, including Laurent Garnier, Underground Resistance, Carl Cox and Monika Kruse.

Now Jules Wells joined the [briquerouge] team for his first album ever. To be released on 2x12" LP limited bi-color vinyl edition in October 2023.

It’s been a few years since Captain Mustache took a ride with Kompakt – 2021, to be exact, when he released the “Everything” single, and subsequently made an appearance on that year’s entry in the Total series. But this visionary French producer has been busy, indeed fiercely productive, ever since, appearing on Helena Hauff’s Return To Disorder and John Digweed’s Bedrock, collaborating with Dave Clarke, Popof, The Advent, Paris The Black Fu, Keith Tucker from AUX88... and two beautifully eloquent albums, Tourbillon Nocturne and Indigo Memories. But with The Super Album, Captain Mustache returns to Kompakt with his most sublime collection yet.

On The Super Album, the Captain soundtracks an imagined “whole day for party people.” He welcomes friends old and new on board: opening with the poetic club banger of “About Love”, with guest appearance from Speakwave (aka dynArec), The Super Album shifts gears into the lush, sunny “Shifting Basslines”, where Captain Mustache’s pulsing electro-disco is the perfect fit for a third collaboration with electroclash pioneers Chicks on Speed.

After the deep techno pulsations of “Laser Me” and the glitzy pop shine of “Gimme Ya Mustache”, more guests arrive: Arnaud Rebotini of Black Strobe on the slinky “I Love Watching U”, and then a spoken cameo from the truly legendary French disco diva Amanda Lear on “Mustache Of The Universe”, a glitzy glitterball of a song that’s shrouded in ghostly synths.

'Based in Nürnberg - Germany, Mouche is a club-focused label specializing in the more low- slung strains of Techno. Previous releases from TM Shuffle, Ivano Tetelepta, and Chris Carrier share reduced and effective qualities, and the next addition to the label - the 2nd release from Ittara - follows suit. 'Peace Of Mind' is a single backed up with a sophisticated remix from Markus Suckut

The title track is a raw, upfront groove that captures the energy of a late warm-up set. Slick polyrhythms are neatly braided together and propelled by bumping drums while percussion is deftly controlled in a manner that punctuates progress and repeatedly sends out calls to the dance floor.

Düsseldorf based Markus Suckut then follows up releases on Steve O'sullivan's Mosiac, Cocoon Recordings and his own label SCKT with a dose of hypnotic, mechanical Dub Techno powered by icy reverbs, deep-set drums, and rippling synths which represent differing shades of the colour presented in the original.'

UK dance music antagonist Works Of Intent redefines big room techno on ‘Richer Sound’, an album with six all-new tracks alongside six cuts previously released on Laurent Garnier and Scan X's COD3 QR label.

Works Of Intent is a vital voice in the underground who champions the sounds and stories of South Asian creatives in his role as Project Manager and Visual Designer for DAYTIMERS. He has also written multiple essays on race, class and privilege in the industry while laying down expressive sets across four decks at key clubs like fabric, Panoramabar and Rex. His emotive, storytelling sounds have come on labels like Turbo, Rekids and Monkeytown, and outside that, he's a go-to mix engineer for some of the UK's most exciting prospects.

‘Richer Sound’ features six tracks previously released on the label’s Various Artist EPs and six brand new offerings that avoid tired big room tropes. Gone are the snare rolls, white noise risers and kick drops, instead Work's operates under the mantra of "big tunes for big hearts" where musicality makes the motive. The artist himself has taken care of the artwork, mixing and mastering and says of the album, “It’s melancholia turned up so loud you can’t ignore it. It’s a deafening barrage of emotions designed for super clubs. It’s unsubtle, it’s unabashed, it’s unrelenting, and it wears its heart on its sleeve. It’s unmistakably a work of intent.”

Opener 'You Should' is a thrilling breakbeat tour de force that nails emotional impact and dance floor weight with impeccable craft. The title track is a colossal mind melter with throwback references to the home cinema experience of yesteryear in its samples of tape rewinds, DVD disc trays and CD disc changers, all adding a constantly rising urgency, then 'V.H.S.' brings a brutalist UK edge to proceedings with tambourine-layered and echoed dub snares making it a real bass bin workout. The powerful 'Fully Focused' builds to deliver the loudest sound you'll ever hear as Works Of Intent makes his synths scream; then there is a moment to dream on 'The Colour Of It' with its ethereal uncertainty, low-slung rhythms and epic synth washes.

Cars and motorsport have been a recurring theme in previous Works Of Intent releases and appear again here in 'Left Unseen', which has the high octane, death-defying adrenaline of rally driving perfectly transposed into a big room techno experience. 'Winning Dulls The Pain' is another cacophony of rising and descending V10 engines underpinning an ever-urgent lead, and 'Old Ways, New Mistakes' bounces boisterously with stadium-sized kick drums and synthetic mourning that will break hearts across arenas. 'Add New Ones' brings the heft of dubstep minimalism to a slower 4x4 form, and 'Dreamt I Saw You' takes fawning imaginations to lucid heights with a synth and cymbal pairing designed to get you stargazing in the club. There is an unrelenting Berlin techno drive to 'Hard Year' that peaks in a wash of cymbals and warbled melancholia before 'You Should (Reprise)' reimagines the opening cut in a more patiently building form with even more emotional impact.

‘Richer Sound’ is just the sort of expertly-crafted, genre-busting work of emotional and physical potency you would expect from such a restless nonconformist as Works Of Intent.

The label has been founded by David Duriez who is known for making House and proper underground electronic music since the beginning of the 90's - 30 years in the music industry, founder and keeper of the [briquerouge] label, home of the best french electronic renegades since 1999, David Duriez is lurking in the shadow of the french Electronic scene, keeping it real and true. Artist in various styles of music, dj and innovator, he's always in search of new ways to distribute and value Electronic Music and always a step ahead. Definitely not just one for the hype.

Since 1994, David released over a hundred records under his name, tens under various pseudonyms, outputs mainly vinyl on the most renowned labels like 2020Vision, Ovum, Systematic, Pokerflat, F Communication, Mobilee, Under the Counter, Stickman, Classic Music Company, Crosstown Rebels, The End, etc .. (the list is long, see Discogs.com to be convinced) and as many remixes for some of the greatest (think Moby, DJ Hell, Telex, Random Factor, Johnny Fiasco, Paul Johnson, Kenny Hawkes or Mr.C).

Founder of the label Brique Rouge in 1999 and a whole galaxy of other labels, he participated in the creation of internationally recognized labels such as Robsoul, Freak n'Chic or Rz Muzik. David has carved out his own niche with his pigeonhole defying Brique Rouge label, and his helping to redefine the nations underground music. Brique Rouge has released deep house, jacking house, tech-house, acid house, vocal anthems and much more... Definitely a label for open-minded people, not stuck in one genre of House. 

In a time where two thirds of the tracks being released each week are sounding the same, either a click and paste formula track, a midi template used ad nauseum or just a classic being sampled to death, Duriez still think there's hope for House & Techno and focus to keep it true, groovy, creative, with soul.
