Every year, the legendary Cologne NOZART Festival in the cellar vault under the Christuskirche commented musically on the end of the second millennium (post christum) and the first decade of the third - with the self-image of consistent anti-opportunism, for which the underground location was to be understood as thoroughly symbolic.

Like its practice, its aim was to bring together different radical improvisers from the contemporary music world as well as a mix of continuity, local anchoring and the presentation of new styles and bands and thus to trace the diverse, fundamentally confusing and yet constant development of improvised music - whether acoustic or electric - to some extent.

The tendency to play in fortefortissimo - for some beyond the pain threshold: Nozart! - has always been countered by a conciliatory commitment to chamber music intimacy, manifested in the small form of sound-oriented, sensitively and richly detailed, freely improvised marvels.
One such gem was the first and so far unique meeting of the US-American vocalist and performer Anna Homler with the well-rehearsed duo of fraternal twins Joachim Zoepf and Wolfgang Schliemann.

Blessed with all the qualities of a 'first meeting', the three took advantage of the opportunity and the free space of the NOZART festival to build a bridge not only across the Atlantic, but also - and above all - between NO and ZART.

The audiophile recording of this event has now been freshly unearthed and is recommended as a first-class feast for the ears.

Jack Leonard, songwriter and producer who with UNKLE and James Lavelle he released two studio albums and collaborated with several top artists including Queens of The Stone Age, A$AP Rocky, Mick Jones (The Clash), Michael Kiwanuka and Sam Ryder.

Jack is also co-founder with Jonny Harris of big beat project Cheapcuts, who have enjoyed success with features from artists such as Pete Wentz of Fall Out Boy, Jamie N Commons and Pigeon John - the latter recently placing on EA Sports Madden 25 official soundtrack.

They have also just released a track featuring Benjamin Francis Leftwich, with upcoming releases including features from Simon Franks (of Audio Bullys), OSKA and many more, following a remix series featuring Fall Out Boy, The Beatles, Baby Queen, Groove Armada and Kylie Minogue - the latter charting number 1 in European iTunes chart.

On The Run

“Doin' Time” was a single off of Sublime’s final album. 

It tells the story of an unfaithful woman who makes her lover feel as if he’s doing time in prison. 

This song takes the melody of George Gershwin’s original "Summertime".

The exact sample came from Herbie Mann’s version of the song played at 45 RPM instead of 33.

There is also a repeating sample taken from Malcolm McLaren’s song Buffalo Gals.

There have been multiple hip-hop remixes of this song, featuring Snoop Dogg and The Pharcyde.

I remixed it with a different drum pattern and other instruments.  For the synths I used a Prophet 6.  The result gives off an electro dub house rhythm.
