Dad, dancer, digger, disc-jockey, and event organiser, Ben Taaffe has been passionately collecting, playing and promoting all manner of underground music in Boorloo (Perth) for over twenty-something years. During this time you might have seen him blasting bass-bins, throwing disco-frisbees, blending slow-burners, or turning techno tables with a bag or three of well worn records in a backyard, nightclub, or warehouse around town 

…or you might have caught him co-hosting the long-running and legendary dance music radio show, Underground Solution, now running strong on RTRFM (every week!) for over 30 years (***only 16yrs or so since Ben joined the collective)! 

Ben’s large-scale dancefloor invocations are conducted regularly alongside Boorloo's best and some of the world’s leading DJ's, drawing patrons from far and wide. He’s the man with a plan behind the {MOVE} events and Freedom Time NYE Festival; a founding member of the Interzone, Planet X and System collectives; and on occasion he "daylights" as an independent creative programmer and events producer working with big wigs such as Perth Festival, WA Museum Boola Bardip, Fringe World and Red Bull Music Academy.

Black Meteoric Star is an ongoing experimental performance project of interdisciplinary artist and Voluminous Arts founder Gavilán Rayna Russom. Beginning in 2006, to date the Black Meteoric Star project has included audio recordings, works of visual and graphic art, videos, social media transmissions, live performances, and writing. Black Meteoric Star has released recorded music accompanied by graphic artwork via DFA Records, Nation, Modern Obscure Music, and Voluminous Arts. In addition to presenting performances in clubs and underground art spaces, Black Meteoric Star has appeared at museums, galleries, and festivals, sometimes in collaboration with the artist collective Assume Vivid Astro Focus. In 2017 Black Meteoric Star appeared in, and composed the soundtrack for, Gavilán Rayna Russom's film No More White Presidents.

Boorloo/Perth based indie-rock band King Ibis makes music that feels distinctively Western Australian while also being unlike anything you’ve heard before. Their sun-bleached, stripped-down rhythms combine with soaring vocals and a cheeky sense of humour to create irresistibly catchy songs.

King Ibis fuses the potent, personal lyrics of lead singer/songwriter Nadene Burchell to the slick instrumental work of guitarist Matthew Oakley, bassist Samantha Goddard and drummer John McAndrew, crafting endlessly-replayable earworms that deliver deeply personal stories in a stylish pop package. Fun, heartfelt and a little bit quirky, this young foursome might just be your new favourite band.
